ok guys, im not planning on lifting right away, but i am needing a plan for my 71 K-5. im thinking just a 4inch lift... how should i do it, should i go 4 inch shackle flip rear, then a 3 inch spring front? (to eliminate saggy-butt) or should i go shackle flip rear with 1" zero rate, and 4 inch spring front? all input helps.

preferably 35s, weekend warrior.

I did a shakle flip in rear with 2" springs (6" total) with 4" springs in front worked out just about right. The rear is just a bit higher than the front.

thats just a hair too high for me, i think im gonna go with a 4in. shackle flip with 1" zero rate, and 4" springs front. what do you guys think?

If you don't want the back to ride low, and don't want the back any higher, you probably need to use smaller lift springs up front (like 2"-3"). I think ORD recommended the 2" difference to compensate for the sagging butt syndrome and now mine sits just a bit higher in back without the top. If I put the top on, it sits pretty close to exact level.

If you roll on the street and some dirt trails Only (No rocks), 35" will be fine. Otherwise the fangs will kill your tires. I have 35"s with 6" lift and I rub all day on rock trails. Plus with 6" lift there all kinds of train mods you have to do. MY .02 go with 3" in front and 5" in rear. Leave hanger in place. Some 33" mudterrain or 35" allterrain. Cheap and easy like my ex-Girlfriend.

I started with 3" bodylift, 4" front Rancho springs & 4" blocks in back w/overload springs & 33" mudtires. The tires would rub only when getting real twisty. Oh and the butt did sag a bit.

Now I have
3" body
4" Rancho Front
5.5" Superlift rear
35" SSRs
My rig has a slight stink bug look to it without the hardtop but I like it this way. It is even less nowa days due to the springs settleing and the added weight from the tirecarrier/bumper I built.
I have trimmed my inner fenders (bent by tires) and I still rub on super twisty trails.
So to keep it low and run 35s you will rub when offraoding unless you trim back your sheetmetal..or just let it rub and then trim...self marking hehehehe

my roommates 72 had 6" rear springs and 4" front springs. it sat dead level with the hard top off. hr added a 1" block in the rear with the top on.

of coarse it now has 13" in the rear and 11 up front and no hard top.

35's and even moderate wheeling will need at least a 6" lift.

BUT

There's are some succesful wheeling rides out there running stock suspension with 33's, so it can certainly be done using a moderate if any lift.

Everything matters, it all needs to work together:
Tires, wheel back spacing, lift size, flex, shocks, gearing and intended use.

yeah, i am not sure how long im gonna have to dd my blz. so i am just kinda pondering things you know, making plans...

When I ordered a "4 inch" tuff country lift from suspension connection, they sent me 4" fronts and 6" rears. I'm guessing they do that because of the butt sag. I added a 1 inch block, and this is how it came out:

On my 72 Blazer I'm doing 4" Tuff Country springs in front and 5.5 inch blocks in rear. The blocks are temporary until I get the money for a 4 inch shackle flip in the rear with a 1 inch zero rate if needed to level it out. I'll be running 33 inch Trxus mt's with a 3.73 ratio. I thought about 35x12.50's but all the charts show you need a 4.10 ratio to turn them and have enough umph for towing. I didn't want to invest in new ring and pinion so I went with the 33's.

WOW Pete!!! That is what I am lookin for! awesome man, thanks for replying!

My 4" E-Z ride all spring lift w/33's sits pretty level.

No rubs ever to date with 10" rims that have 4" back spacing.

Not unless his garage is "raked" also.... :D

Looks pretty level when compared to the garage header. The whole photo is tilted so it's creating a strange visual effect.....methinks.

hmmm interesting... youre right...

That and the shadow cast on the top of the rear tire makes it decieving too
