No point of screwing anything if there was a mistake in the mold or something. Please let us know how it works out.
If it comes to modding anything thing, the hood is way, way easier to work with. Cut off the offending part. Take some cardboard or foam and shape the core of a new brace. Glue it to the underside of the hood. Fair-in the inside corner where the brace meets the hood with bondo or wood. You don't want a sharp corner there as that makes getting the 'glass to lay flat more difficult and it's not as strong. Lay wetted 'glass over the core and onto the hood.
Note that if you use Styrene insulation foam (like from a home store) that you'll need to paint it first with latex paint to keep the resin from dissolving it.
