I did a search and looked in the interior forums as well. I think I may just pay to get the LINE X done, I know its more expensive but will be less mess and effort on my part. I called the local dealer up, no discount for me prepping, they dont really work like that. I just have to gut it. Thinking of just going firewall to tailgate.

Im thinking about what to do about the back side panels? I was thinking of diamond plate and have it LIne X'd as well. Thoughts? Talking to the owner of hte LIne X shop here was pretty cool. He was pretty knowledgeable and answered all my questions.

I will do this to my k5 asap. I will do some if not all the prep though, I want it done right.

I was thinking the same thing. I have already done the majority of the prep but haven't had a chance to talk to a Line-X dealer. I was planning on putting a coat of Chassis Saver down at least in the cab portion for some extra peace of mind, but at that point it's probably not necessary. Let us know if you decide to go through with it and how much it did or will cost. I'm very curious.

I do agree though, I have read extensively on this and even though the up-front cost is a little high, having the lifetime warranty and an overall better quality and stronger material than herculiner or durabak is really the selling point for me. Plus, none of the roll on stuff offers that "smooth but rough" texture that you get from the professional job.

At some point I was planning on doing some side panels as well, but for the time being I'd rather just get the bedliner in tip to toe and go from there.

I'm planning to do this to my Jimmy too! I'm not gonna be running anything in the way of side pieces. But, if I were you, I would make them still be removable. You could get them sprayed as separate pieces so they still match. Just seems a good idea to keep them removable, at least I think so!

Yeah definitely still removable. I'd like to make some with built in lock boxes or something at some point. And maybe some speakers for the rear passengers....

Yea, I got a quote of $749 + tax. I thought about the cost and the break down if I were to do it myself and the aggrevation involved.

1) I do have to strip interior weather I DIY or have line X

2) I dont have to do any prep work, no prep work = no wasted time

3) If I dont do the prep work properly Ill end up with a bad job , if they dont do the prep work, they are liable to fix it.

4) My time, takes an hour or so to strip interior, who knows how long it takes to do the actual prep work.

5) I personally dont want to wear that stuff, lol. and knowing me, Id do just that.

6) they offer superior product over Herc with warranty.

Believe me, I like to DIY on everything I can, but sometimes it pays to let a pro do it. YMMV

I`m thinking about having my flat bed Line Xd, wonder what that would run me, maybe the underside of my cab...

I did Herculiner for a buddy of mine and it came out well but, I personally would rather get my stuff Line-Xed. Less hassle for me and if anything goes wrong with the job, they fix it! To me, it's worth the $! ;)

I did my whole interior with herculiner in my old k5, It lasted till i sent the tub to the junkyard:(. It is alot of prep work and it ends up fading. I think the lineX is worth it if they do it right.

I haven't gotten a quote or anything yet, but I've asked a few guys I know that have worked with or for a Line-X shop and they all seemed to think it would be around 400 to 500 bucks to have that done. Damn near 800 bucks seems a little excessive to me. Maybe there are challenges associated with spraying the cab around the firewall and such that I don't foresee, but getting regular truck bed (4 x 8) has to be *roughly* the same amount of surface area and doesn't cost anywhere close to $800! Granted, each Line-X dealer is free to set their own prices but I would have figured $600 tops for a job like this. Especially if you've already stripped out all of the interior for them.

Well I did call a nearby dealer and they quoted me 850 to do it. I may check another area and see if they can do it cheaper, but I dont want to waste the money on gas to get a better deal, Jus depends. Gotta do cost analysis.

The shop closest to me has a good section of the market cornered. THey are the only one within a couple counties, but this is a slow time, cuz nobody is buying trucks due to economy and gas prices. Im sure all that factors into their cost. Maybe I can jew em down some, I dunno.

I started stripping stuff I had added out of the back of my Blazer and got to thinking. The silver metal strip that goes on the floor in the very back, I think it was to hold the carpet down. Well. when I put in the rubber flooring I put that back, I cant ever get any of the screws to stay in and had to use bigger ones that would tighten down. ANyways. If I go with LINE X , can I eliminated this? Of is it part of sealing with the tailgate? Hope to eliminated it though. ALso the same with the metal plates on the inside of the doors, they go over top of the door frame seal.
