Would anyone with their panels currently out and have the factory brackets installed. Would you measure the length they stick out from the body panel? I'm looking to build some and need a good starting point. My blazer is a 83 k5 . Thanks a million

Dang I think I threw all mine out use to have them all but will look around for you.

I just made some out of plywood, covered them with foam, and upholstered them and I can tell you that there is no one single dimension to give you. The tabs that are located about 8" rear of the door and about 10" above the floor stick out toward the center of the truck about a quarter inch. They correspond with the vertical panel where the tailgate latch is located. The panels run parallel and are straight down from the bedside rail. They are parallel, square and form a box. Just square down from the bedsides and you're all set. Hope this helps. If you're going to buy carpet to fit, lay it in the bed and that will help you as well

I used the attached printable PDF templates to make mine. Just upload these online at kinkos.com and have them do a large format print, at the actual size. Do not scale these down as these PDF files are the actual size of the panels. Then simply cut a piece of 1/8" utility board from the homer. One sheet will do both panels.

For a trick install, once these are cut, line the quarter panels up to where they should be installed, and then drill holes through the panels and through the bed rail at the top of the panel and through the stock screw locations of the panels, then use metal trim clips to hold them in place. You can then pop the panel off since its just clipped on, leave the trim clips in the panel and then upholster over the face of them. This way you don't have to screw anything in, it looks clean and if you need to remove the panels they simply pop right out! Check out my panels.

1975Jimmy, those look great! How did you get the lines in the panels? You upholstered them yourself correct?

I had a local upholstery shop do them up along with my seats.

Is there anyway I could get those templates you printed off from you? The nearest store is 2 hrs away from me.

I would if I had them still. I tossed them when I was done... I guess in hindsight, I probably should have kept them.
