Has anyone ever bought the performance exhaust from lmc? Not the glass packs, just the dual exhaust. How does it fit, and how does it sound? Thanks

I just purchased it, and am in the middle of installing. So far the parts seem nice, but there's almost zero instruction on how things should fit. After lots of fiddling around, I thought I had it perfect, only to find my manifold adapters were out of alignment. If you buy it, don't expect something that'll just bolt together and work well, it's a lot of work to make it fit correctly. The only modification I really needed to make so far was chopping down two of the pipes by ~2" to fit the hangers where they needed to be. We'll see once I get it fully installed.

The mufflers are labeled Heartthrob, so I'm guessing it's the same stuff hooker used to sell.

I hope to finish it up later this week, and I'll post pics.

Thanks for the tips, can't wait to see it

i had a buddy buy this kit and it is not bolt on and go you have to play with it.one of the reasons i bought the hooker competition kit.but they have issue on lasting. they use a flat pipe (Instead of a rolled edge its a 90 degree bend) to connect at the collector witch is pron to cracking.

Most only sell the "universal" kit that is designed to fit everything from Blazers to pickups, usually you can find a kit that works with factory manifolds and one designed for use with headers. You'll have to make modifications depending on how your truck is set up, which mufflers you use, etc. If you're handy with a welder, I'd recommend getting one of those build your own kits, or you can take it to an exhaust shop and get one done custom.

For a daily driver and building on a budget, I'll probably just get the lmc setup and do the required mods. Later on one day I'll have it redone to all custom.

That's what my plan was as well. I think the LMC pipes are going to turn out great, just gotta spend the time to fiddle with them.

Probably all depends on what you want. I'm no expert though.

Have you stopped into a local shop and asked what they'd charge? In the past I've been surprised at how reasonable the prices have been. I'm sure part of it is having the ability to do the work much faster than I can with a lift and all proper tools.

I never asked anyone about it but I'm not gonna bother for a daily driver

BTW, since you mentioned dual exhaust, and it's almost certainly technically illegal on your truck, many shops (at least that I talked with in the past) will not say they will do that work over the phone. It will have to be in person.

Dual exhaust is a factory configuration for some trucks (including my diesel). So I'd think you'd be required to do duals in a smog state.

But I know nothing about smog regulations...

That's why I said "almost certainly". If the truck came with dual exhaust in factory configuration, of course it's legal. Percentage-wise, dual exhaust is very uncommon on these trucks.

However, the vast majority of trucks running around with dual exhaust did not come that way, and are technically illegal. No shop in their right mind will admit to do illegal exhaust modifications over the phone, so just calling up and saying "how much for dual exhaust on my truck" will likely result in "we can't do that" as an answer, if you don't specify the truck has factory dual exhaust, or it's not legal.

It's not that they may not do it, just that they won't quote some invisible person on the phone work that can get them fined.
