LMC exhaust

I only really want bolt in exhaust right now and if I can do it myself no shop could do it cheaper.

You know what they pay for materials, and that you can get the materials cheaper? Clamps, hangers, welding, tubing, bends, etc.?

Heck you can buy pre-bent tubing kits that you can cut as you need to fit then weld. All that work is one reason I decided to go single 3".

That's why I said "almost certainly". If the truck came with dual exhaust in factory configuration, of course it's legal. Percentage-wise, dual exhaust is very uncommon on these trucks.

However, the vast majority of trucks running around with dual exhaust did not come that way, and are technically illegal. No shop in their right mind will admit to do illegal exhaust modifications over the phone, so just calling up and saying "how much for dual exhaust on my truck" will likely result in "we can't do that" as an answer, if you don't specify the truck has factory dual exhaust, or it's not legal.

It's not that they may not do it, just that they won't quote some invisible person on the phone work that can get them fined.

When you say dual exhaust do you mean true dual were there is no cross over?

My K5 has dual exhaust but there is a cross over up front. It is not a factory set up. It is also rusted really bad. I would like to get a custom bolt up stainless dual exhaust.

I really don't know all the intricacies, but I do know for a fact that according to federal law, you cannot add or subtract from the number of converters the vehicle came with originally. Who checks that? Pretty much no one, unless your state does.

I don't think you would generally see problems (outside of CA) as long as you didn't change the location or placement of an existing converter, so that all exhaust was routed through it. I do not believe it's generally considered tampering to modify exhaust after the converter(s).

I got 2.5 and flowmaster delta flow 2 chambers from headers back for 300.00, all new hangers, ball and sockets. Great quality.

I'd rather pay a shop than wrestle with a "universal" kit.

Finished up the exhaust tonight. It's still not quite right though. It's leaking at the manifolds, I think attaching it to the body instead of the frame is transferring a lot of vibration, and the pipes aren't quite even and level at the back. I'll be doing some more work on it later this week.

Doubt the body is the cause, unless it's moving around a ton...the frame is flimsy and moves probably as much (or more) than the body. A couple of those look like they probably don't have a lot of backing to keep the mount solid, but overall I suspect those aren't the sole problem.

All your hangers appear to be vertical. You need some lateral support. I used one of these off the frame, and just bent it with a hammer around the pipe for more purchase, then tacked in place on the pipe with the MIG:

Was it an easy bolt up and go install? Or is there a lot of mods needed for it to fit?
