Compared to the old GM original........I can't find any differences. Very good quality. All holes line up. They could be twins with the exception of the cracks and broken tabs on the old one. Very pleased.

That does look nice. Thanks for the good pics, might need to get one of those.

I give you credit for my decision. Your thread convinced me to give them a try and you were 100% correct.
Haha! I need to upload another picture. I’ve fixed those hi beams now and it doesn’t have googly eyes.

Stupid question, is the "original" an actual GM grille?

I had to replace mine with an aftermarket years back ('85) and I seem to recall that the "backing" for the bowtie was in the shape of the bowtie.

Just curious, doubt it would matter, I want to think I had to trim something a tiny bit with a razor knife to get the bowtie to fit. It was years back, I could be making that all up too.

Edit: But even paying $25 at the time, the grille was/is worth it. That trimming was less than 5 minutes and everything else fitment was perfect. Still on the truck with no cracks. Probably not even made anymore, but it was certi-fit brand.

Just looked at my grill that I bought new from dealer in mid 90s has the whole backing(outline base) for the bolt on Chevy gold emblem.

You know, I'm not 100% sure. I will do some research and try to find out.

According to my research, yes, it is an original GM grille. The GM part number is on top of the center mounting tab. #15554912.

There is no part number, in that location, on the LMC grille.

Very odd. I have no idea if the aftermarket would do that, but I wonder if the aftermarket simply copied the numbers?

It's possible GM made two different designs. Since we have confirmation that at least one GM piece has the bowtie cast into it, and yours has a GM part number, it is a possibility.

Doesn't really matter I suppose, just a curious difference.
