Just wondering if anyone here has had any problems with there lock rights?
I put one in my Beaumont(chevelle) back in July. I had problems with it disengaging both tires under hard acceleration/burn outs/launches etc. Did some more checking, checked the clearances as per the instructions. Everything checked out and was in spec. So I pulled the locker out and noticed severe where one the inside of the carrier where the side gears slide in. So I got another rear end with a mint carrier. I basically rebuilt it drum to drum. At that point the car was hardly driven, the locker was still in great shape.
With about a hundred miles on the diff, the locker performance started to fade significantly. It would only lock one side some times, than gradually got to where it would just slip under very little load.
Also, due to the harshness of the locker slipping it has chipped the pockets where the springs/ shear pins go quite severely. I will load some pics up right now of it.
So I started researching about it, and have come up with this. Its in the locker itself for whatever reason. I have found several threads about guys rounding the teeth off just like mine has. They than sent the locker in for warranty, and put another one in and never had problems.
I contacted Richmond when I first had problems with it, the guy I talked to didnt really have much to say. I plan to call in the morning and see if I cant send this paper weight back to them for warranty.
So long story short wondering if anyone has some insight/ experience with lock right problems?
Hope my story isnt to confusing
