I have a 1989 V2500 Suburban with the factory 10 bolt and 14 bolt SF combination. I've been doing research on lockers but I'm trying to find a CHEAP solution. It appears the the lowest cost lunchbox locker for the rear runs around $450 while a selectable (we have snow and it's a somewhat daily driver) for the front runs AT LEAST $800+++.

That information has sort of sent me down a rabbit hole (as it often times does). In doing more research, the H2 also used a 14B SF with an Eaton E locker which should be as easy as a carrier swap from what I've seen. Has anyone done this? I can't find much information on the subject but I can pick up the entire H2 axle for around $200-$250.

That finding also sent me down the path of trying to find a factory equipped 10b locker. In doing so, I discovered that the H3 supposedly used an 8.6" AAM axle which shares it's carrier with the 8.5" 10 bolt, thus leading me to believe that yet again, there should be a sub-$300 locker option for the front. I have not found ANY information on this however.

This brings me to the point of posting. Has anyone ever done either of these lockers or heard of anyone doing it? Also, can anyone confirm or deny fitment of either of these locker options?

I'm all ears but I'm hoping to find a solid selectable front option that doesn't break the bank and the fact that the rear would also be fully locked or fully open would also allow the use of cutting brakes which would certainly help getting this giant wheelbase Suburban down some of the tighter trails.

Im in for the info. I have been looking for the h2 locker after some research it looks like they work. Haven't seen anything on the front

you can get a TORQ locker for your rear for $289 on amazon, made in the USA and looks pretty beefy for a lunch box, BUT it is not selectable like the stock H2 unit.

I think that is for the FF 14 bolt and not the SF 14 bolt.

so you want selectable in front and auto lock in rear or selectable?

I think selectable front and rear would be ideal. Auto lockers tend to shock the driveline a bit more than selectable lockers.

I was thinking for the snow on paved roads select-able would be best, only use when needed. So the Eaton rear locker is an auto lock iirc.

The Eaton E-lockers in the Hummers are open when off and locked when energized.

I've decided to go ahead and proceed with acquiring the lockers but it will take me a little bit to recoup from the $3k I just dropped on wheels and tires for the Suburban, lol.

I figure at the end of the day, what's the worst that happens? If they can't be made to work I can always just sell them.

I checked fleabay last night, entire h2 axles are available for $350ish and up. Shipping is a bitch though...
They come with 4:10s...and the e locker. Add a switch with a relay and violence! Good to go. With rear disc brakes no less.

Any progress on this?

It's an interesting option.
I'm about to swap a 14 bolt under my k5 and the chance to add an e-locker and wider wms to wms would be awesome.

I ended up pulling the engine out and doing a full re-gasket and new cam and I'm also rewiring the entire front half of the truck. The only problem is... It's still not fully back together more than 4mo's later (life got in the way). I'm hoping to have it done for this winter and acquire the parts for this over winter as well.
