How well would a lockrite hold up in a 14 bolt spinning 33 - 37's. I want a detroit but am going to wait to get that until I swap to 4.88's. Am I correct that you have to remove the carrier with a detroit and not a lockrite. Do you install a lockrite in the rear the same as you do in the front?

Full Floater or Semi Floater?

The FF version, The detroit is a drop on. Simple and cheap.

Its a full float. What do you mean the detroit is a drop on ?

I got it now. So detroit in the rear it is. Thanks guys.

ya in a 14bolt the carrier is strong enough for a true detroit...whereas most axles the detroit replaces the carrier too....thats one big plus for a 14bolt easier and cheaper!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Actually, all detroit lockers pretty much for axles that size and larger are drop in. They make no-spins for axles that are MUCH larger than the 14 bolt.

The 14 bolt just happens to share the design of much heavier duty axles, so it is a drop in.

The large Danas don't have this design, so we don't get so lucky for the front. But if ya ever needed a no spin for a semi or something, you'd likely get a drop in type.
