Im looking at getting a 2500 Suburban. I'd like to get a 2007+ but may just end up getting a lower mileage 2006 or older body style. I was wondering when they started using the 6 speed in the newer style trucks? Also is there anything else to look for in these trucks? From everything Ive read so far, it seems they seem to hold up well. The truck will be used for a little bit of daily driving, hauling crap around, and towing my rig to the trails a few times a year. Are the 99-06's any better or worst than the 07+?

anyone know the first year of the 6 speed in the 2500's????

Not sure on the 6 speeds, I was thinking that was just an Allison/D max thing :dunno:, but I can comment on the durability of that era. Our business has 2 2500HD's , both 6.0 gassers, the 2003 has 325k on it and still runs and tows like a champ, the other one , an 04 has 270k on it and is doing great. Both have needed water pumps, and fuel pumps, and the 03 ate a T case but other then that they have held up great. We still use them daily, just can't justify replacing them since they are paid for and are still reliable and running great.:D

I know for a fact that 2009+ 2500 suburbans have 6 speeds, just not sure about the 07-08's.

Good to hear that those trucks are running strong still, I might just save my money and go for that body style instead of the newer ones.

Cool, I learned something new today :D. I can't say I've really looked at much of the newer stuff, unless it burns diesel :D
