Does anyone know if any aftermarket company makes chrome shocks and/or steering stabilizers for the '72 Blazer 4x4 with a Rancho 4 inch lift? I thought I saw that Superlift made a shock that would fit but now I cant find it. Do I have to take mine off and get them chromed?

Thanks for any help!

Dave

Well, that brings to mind some other issues ... can you get lift blocks for the front in chrome?

Thats ok because I hardly drive it anymore. I used to drive it all the time while in high school but now its being converted into an occasional drive to work vehicle and car show vehicle. The 350 was bored out to 383 cubic inches way back in the late '80s.

How can I post pics of the truck?

Wow it was bored all the way out to a 383? Thats like what? .640 over?

Anywho the closest thing I've seen is bilsteins shocks. They are stainless. trail-gear.com has em.

It was one of those 400 ci internal parts into a 350 block. As I understood it this combo was great for increasing torque. In my 4x4ing days going up steep hills would occasionally find myself running out of power/torque and the ever so fun flooding of the quadrajet carb :)

I'll check out the link you provided. THANKS!

I think that's a basic 383 stroker ... the block isn't bored out, just has a crank with longer throw or whatever you call it.

Here is a link to some pics from an SRT Ram forum I frequent (used to have a supercharged SRT Ram...702 rwhp). I contacted a guy about the Bilsteins, he said the valving wouldnt work. I wanna go to a 35x12.50 tire but I dont think the truck will fit in my garage if I do so for now I still have the 33x12.50's. I added a pic of the Viper just for the heck of it.

Thats a beautiful 1st gen

But honestly the consensous of most people on this forum is that chrome shocks are for pointless show trucks. Personally I think they would be a waste of money... But if thats what you like, then you can run as amany as you like.

Yeah a 400 block destroked with a 350 crank is a 374.

350 block + .030 over + 400 crank = 383

400 block + 350 crank = 374

PS: I was busting balls about being bored .640 because you said it was bored not stroked.

400 + 350 crank = 374.... +.030 = short stroke 383 :D but who would want one of those

i dont know if you can get chrome on ranchos and such anymore like you could in the 80's. king shocks will chrome a bypass shock for a small fortune.

Hmmm I dont follow. .030 over is equivilent to 5gained cubes...

374+5 = not 383

it depends on the size of the motor. a .030 overbore would give a larger cid increase in a larger motor.
