In Oct we will be going to Moab for the first time. There will be 4 or 5 guys and trucks. One thing we need some help with is where to camp. We're not looking for an RV campground with hook-ups hopefully just an area to dry or boondock camp with one 33' motorhome, one truck pulling a 32' car hauler and two trucks pulling regular car haulers.
Trails are alot easier to research but any favorites or advice would be great also.
Trucks being wheeled are a narrowed 72 blazer 37's rear locker ( should have a front locker before the trip) 85 Ford 1/2 ton short bed 35's 2 lockers, 02ish 4 door Tacoma 32's rear locker, 85ish 4 runner sas 4.3 v6 35's 2 lockers.
Any info would be appreciated thanks. Sean

Moab Rim RV camp ground.

October is a bit late in the year sometimes so dress warm and dry. Think one year Blazer Bash was in October rained most of the week. Three or four years ago it was the end of September and it snowed.

I did read that the weather could be unpredictable but that makes me a little more nervous. I watched the weather there last year and it seemed pretty mild in early October.
Our plan is Oct 5th-15th with travel from Tucson.
Thanks Sean.

:sign6:of the narrowed 72 Blazer.

South of town is BLM(not the political group) land. The local info office and BLM office can show you where. The campground at Ken's Lake is good also. Small fee.

Sounds like the south blm land is what we're looking for. How far is that from most of the trails?
Thanks for the info. Sean

Be careful with planning to camp on BLM, they have made it really tough to do what you want to do anywhere near Moab. It's understandable, unregulated campsites tend to become really nasty (turd blossoms under every bush, etc) so they've contained camping in the heavy use to campground type areas, typically with toilets and trashcans. I've come to like being closer to town but our "wheeling Moab" isn't as much about the 'wheeling anymore and it's nice to be close to other activities.

The BLM must have released a new website before it worked because I've looked for a few maps lately and nothing seems to work. I've found copies of a few of what I've needed from other sources but don't expect much from blm.gov. A call to Moab might be in order. The kind of camping you're looking for is available at some more rustic campgrounds near the pritchett trailhead but they are private and carry a fee which probably isnt' a big deal.

this one seems to work and have some good info. pdf maps are really cool if you haven't used them already. download the "pdf maps" app from Avenza and load the blm georeferenced maps (from the blm page below) to your phone through the app and your phone or whatever device will put you on the map as a little blue dot. Very handy to be "on" the actual BLM maps.

Thanks for all the info. It's helpful to try to figure out a trip like this never having been there before.
Some of the camping we do around Az (especially at the lake) gets full before we can get there. Planning a trip so far away and not having a place to camp when we get there is nerve racking.

I like Archview RV resort its about 10mi outside of town you can dry camp there for like 15.00 a night

If we can decide on a place to camp does anyone know if we need to reserve spots in advance and maybe how far in advance for early October?
