Wondering if anyone might know correct torque for the spindle nut lock, look at Dorman 615-132 (nut) when swapping over to a single nut on a 14 bolt?

I believe it is 50 lbs. while rotating the hub.. back it off then torque to 35 lbs. then put then insert the square key and retaining ring.

This is out of one of my Haynes. Says the same exact thing in the old crustier edition of the Haynes.

I would do 50 lbs while rotating the hub then back it off and final torque to 35 lbs then adjust the spindle nut to where the key will go in then install the snap/retaining ring.

That is what I've always done and my 14FF is going strong.

I just got done doing this last weekend. I had a friend turn the hub while I torqued the nut to 50 pounds a few times, then I slightly backed off the nut so the hub would rotate and lined up the retaining nut with the key way and tit on the adjusting nut. My 1990 service manual doesn't say anything about re torquing to 30 or 35 pounds then adjusting the nut to fit in the hole.
