Losing the computer

Here is some more info for you. I dont know if you have been to TBI chips site. But this is a good page on truck SBC tbi engines.http://www.tbichips.com/truckmods.htm Definatly worth a read .

To help you understand TBI and how it works check out this site. Click on the links listed on the bottom left side of page under "Important Tuneing Tips Pages" :http://www.cfm-tech.com/GM_tbi_tuning_tips.htm
There may be a little too much info on those pages but it is a good read and will really help you out if you want to understand TBI a little better. Plus they sell good TBI performance upgrades too.

BTW I am not trying to talk you out of a carb. Just trying to give as much info as possible so you can make an informed decision. You also may want to take into consideration if your truck is on the street a lot. Smog laws will change. I have heard after 2010. The federal government may start cracking down on states that dont require smog checks. The feds may hold back highway money unless States comply with fed standards. Got this from a good bud of mine who runs the local DMV.

Wow, this thread is still going. I was the Tom N post also. The funny thing is besides my 84 Impala I have a 93 k3500 Crew cab with a 454 4l80e that I put a Twin Screw Supercharger on to try and match the power my 75 454 had with a Holley doublepumper. So in a way I guess you can use those results however you like to answer the original question and the Hijack. I like to post up what I have done. Not what I think might happen. I have not gone from FI to a carb but I could. I have not gone from a carb to FI, but I could. Last time the Check engine light went on in my wifes 98 Blazer, I went to Autozone, they scanned it, it was an O2 sensor, they loaned me a Crescent wrench, I swapped it out, they used the scanner to clear the message, I was good to go.
