My 4" Superlift kit for the 85 burb showed up the other day, its been some time since I bought a lift kit I wondered if what I see is typical. Sprngs are made in India,U bolts look like they were forged in a vise with big teeth leaving marks, the threads are pretty rough with bits missing, the shocks are from mexico, hardware kit from God Knows where. None of the shock bushing sleeves fit my truck without spreading apart the mounts quite a bit,the springs after putting the weight of the truck on them have already lost their arch over the axle and already have a dip in the middle. I got hosed outta the rear lift parts so I can comment on them yet But Im not to thrilled with it to speak of so far. Maybe it will ride like a caddy when its all said and done  or maybe I got what I paid for and if so then who makes a quality kit...BDS,Rancho,Skycracker??. I can say the last 4" Pro comp Exploder jeep lift I bought ended up in the scrap bin, rigid suspension would have been an improvement. Bitch ,bitch ,bitch eh??:D

I doubt its gonna ride like a Caddy.
Fact is, bolt on kits bring the suck...especially nowadays.

I ran a Superlift kit originally on my K5 for several years. I always thought it was a good set of springs. God mix between flex/ride/durability. Things do change as business/parts get outsourced though :(

i always have to laugh when I watch 98% of people be preoccupied with price when shopping parts.. then have the balls to complain about quality...

not to mention, kits are just a lazy, ignorant way to lift a truck.. just piece a lift together.... flip out back, ORD or DIY4X flavor.. some quality BDS or TC springs up front, how hard is that? heck, ORD puts custom kits together...

The Superlift or Rancho was recommended by a fairly high dollar shop as one of the better kits on the market,Ive avoided Tuff country springs due to past experiances with broken mains, maybe a fluke but once bitten twice shy ya know.. I agree on the "kit" thing but I could have just as easily bought every part from a different MFG and shop and ended up with the same parts at twice the cost. Like my K5 in the end it will have its share of ORD parts but the kit was intended to be a start to build from.
And yes part of my gripe is why the Hell isnt anything made in America anymore which has an obvious answer I refuse to accept.

lift kits

I have had more than several trucks which were lifted by numeruos companies spring kits. I have a ford 350 superduty diesel which i lifted. After about a year the front end sagged and the kit was specifically for a diesel. I shopped around in four wheeler magazines and found compainies which were in custom suspension building. They also could build any size kit you wanted. All AMERICAN MADE U.S.A STEELE. 100%warranty. ( even a soft ride version ) Guaranteed. They will build kit spring only no blocks which is the way to go. They take your specs. ( If you are pushing plow or heavy duty bumper with winch ) back and front and build. I had one built for my diesel. kits come complete with hardware. It cost me slightly more money but it was the way to go. Its a heavy duty kit with no harsh ride.
