Looking for tips on removing lower pin

Upper cap is off, seen some threads where you remove the upper and punch down through
But I'd rather not remove the upper til i inspect it.

Tried a chisel lightly, tapped on the sides, it will spin maybe 1/8 in.

Thought id ask for tips before i jack it all up, lol

Thanks

after removing the four bolts on the lower king pin plate it should slide out. Just be careful not to mess up the face of the lower king pin plates where they meet the knuckle.

Punching down in the center should only damage the dust cover btw.

It's not sliding out
Won't even budge a little

is the axle shaft out? I'd probably knock a hole through the cover and drive the pin down. Sounds like you may need bearings and seals anyway.....

I put a punch on the side of it and spin them so that there is some kingpin plate to tap down on. Brute force isn't the key from there, light taps working side to side and it should come out.

Exactly

The kingpin is dead center of that dust cap. I used a long punch to drive kingpin down. Once it gave a hair it came on out easy.

Its been spinning more and more
Ill keep at it till theres enough plate exposed to tap on

Thanks

Good news: lower out
Bad news: upper roached!
