So my somewhat weak attempts to find a 2wd Blazer have not got me any where.

So I got thinking......

Could you do an axle over the spring swap on a 4x4 :dunno:

Would it fit :dunno:

Thinking you would have to use a set of one ton springs that were not reverse arched.

Crazy thoughts at 2300 on a Monday night.

Why not buy a 4wd k5 and swap it out for the 2wd stuff? But I don't see why what you have listed won't work, you wouldn't get much bump travel but does it matter on a street queen?

^this and I think the axle would be really close to the oil pan. Better to ditch the leaves up front and go with a traditional 2wd suspension setup. Good luck on your search. I sold my 2wd k5 about 7 years ago and still miss it

The only possible way to think of doing it with leaf springs would be an I Beam type front end. Think UPS delivery truck.

But, it'll suck. Your steering will be a nightmare.

Buy a 2wd truck, and swap all the front end stuff over.

Or drop a blazer tub on a shortened 2wd frame.

The frame/body mount changes would be easier i think.

I had a '75 2wd Blazer..my "summer truck".....found it rusting away in a guy's backyard, after driving by it on my way to work for a long time,I finally stopped one day when I saw a guy standing near it,it had been moved to the curb...
He had a "For Sale" sign in his hand--when I asked how much he wanted,he said "make me an offer"...I half jokingly said "150 bucks?" --and he said "SOLD!"...my wife has been bitching about it for years!..

It had a 250 six and a three speed Tremec trans, with a floor shifter..the integeral head six, with a one barrel carb..

I liked the truck a lot--had to patch the floors and door bottoms, and rear wheel wells, but it was still pretty solid otherwise..it was a better ride than a 4x4 Blazer,on long trips or highway drives,it didn't beat you up like a solid axle 4x4 did...I figured why wear out a 4x4 when you dont need it in the summer..the full convertible was fun too,but I only took the roof off a couple of times..

I drove it about 2 years, then one day the fiber camshaft timing gear decided to strip its teeth about 5 miles from home,I was returning from a 150 mile trip to NH!..my '56 Chevy pickup's 235 did the same thing--those were the only 2 times I had to walk home from a chevy truck..

I put a 307 V8 from a '71 Suburban in it,and a '74 Vega 4 speed saginaw tranny,the thing was pretty darn fast ,with 4.11 gears in the rear..

I came close to buying a '72 2wd Blazer before I owned the '75,it was also a straight six with a Powerglide !..but it was pretty rotted around the rockers and wheel wells,I passed on it...guy wanted 500 bucks for it and wouldn't budge..
I didn't really "need" it,but I had a 4x4 K5 the same year, same color, and if I could have got it for less,I probably would have bought it..they made even fewer first generation 2wd Blazers than the 73-up ones..

I never even knew 2wd k5's existed lol

Nomenclature question: My understanding is that a K-series truck is 4WD by definition. So a 2WD Blazer would be a C5 Blazer instead of a K5 Blazer...right? Or is there some goofy naming convention going on here? :dunno:

My '75 2WD Blazer was all original, and had "K5" on the fender emblems !..
The '72 2WD one I looked at had "K5" badges too...who knows why GM didn't label them with "C" for 2WD?..

I never saw one with "C-5" or
"C-10" on the fenders...but I haven't seen many 2WD Blazers either...they were not very hot sellers up here...

My neighbor has a factory 2wd blazer chassis with the original body. The body is beat with some rust. I have been trying to get him to come down on the price, but last I knew, he still was at $800! No engine or transmission. I think it may rot away next to a chalet that is there.

Hmm...that is confusing. Was there a "K10" tag for the trucks? I know I've seen C/10 on some of the pre-squarebody trucks. But the squarebodies just seem to have "10" or "1500" without marking either way...

I have seen pre-1970 trucks badged as "C-10" even though they were 4x4's,but they could have just been swapped emblems or fenders?...and some 4x4's as "K-10" as well...

I have seen c trucks that were 4wd before. Saw an 80s square body like that and one other one time. I came to the conclusion that someone custom ordered it and did some funky **** with the ordering codes.
