my 05 duramax is on 37's and im taking it to 35's. i was gonna pull the 6 inch block out and replace it with a 4 and then just lower the front with the torsion bars.

with the 2 inch drop will i have to replace my shocks?

do you know which shocks you have? im guessing the ones that came in the kit

It really depends on your shock specifics. I was looking at some Skyjacker shocks and their range was for 2" - 6" lifts. You got to look at the compressed dimension and then the fully extended dimension to see if it will work or not. Start with the part number on the shocks and look up their specifics.....you might get lucky!

they where on the truck when i bought it, they are white and i believe they are the adjustable ones cause on the bottom they have the little adjuster valve

Jeff i will look and see when i get a chance

I remember you buying it lifted. Figured you might get lucky and it still have the sticker of which model it is.

will put suspension a-arms at funny angles from stock.

possible binding of the c/v shafts

also make real soft handling in front.

also full alignment required.

lots of veriables . i use to install lots of them.

if me i would just bolt on 35" tires and run it.

or find out what brand and contact them to see whats required to drop to 4" lift and go from there.

It depends on the kit. If the spindles and brackets were all dropped a full 6", then going down 2 would be a bad idea. If it's really a 4 or 5" with torsion adjustment to hit 6, then lowering it will put the ride height closer to the center of travel and improve everything. This would also mean the existing shocks are likely to be OK. Likewise, I don't know if the C/V angle would be a problem. A lot of those kits put too much angle in the halfshafts. Dropping back 2" might actually make it better.

Obviously it will need an alignment no matter what.

if not a name tag. then color of bushings and pics of front end stuff and if lift knuckles pics also. might be able to tell.

on a lot of those kits they had a raised knuckle for the steering and a drop for the center section.in the front if it rides stiff now because of changed tortion keys, you should be able to get a stock tortion key or the extention for where the the tortion bar key.and that will give you a 2 inch drop in the front.then you can then change out the rear blocks or change to 4 inch springs and it should be even.it may be too soft in the front if you just adjust it looser at the adjuster in the front tortion key.im not exactly sure what kind of kit you have but those are usually what ive seen from the kits.as was said pics would really help.
