Hey does anyone know if I use the advanced adapter bell housing to mate a nv4500 to a lq4 I can run the old style clutch pedals with the mechanical rods.

And if so is it the Sachs nfw1050 flywheel I would need, like if I was going to run a sm465

Dude you dont need any of that fancy aftermarket ****. They produce that stuff to try and deceive people into thinking they need aftermarket stuff to make it work.

A flywheel from a 2004 4.8/5speed silverado 1500 will mate any SBC style trans to an LS engine using a standard bell, LS7 pilot bearing, and standard clutch for the transmission application. This flywheel is also big enough for a 12in clutch, so its not like its light duty or anything. There is also another flywheel that came in some 3500 applications that were 5 speed. I believe it was 6.0/5speed early trucks but Im not sure on that one.

The only "custom work" needed is to remove the dowel pin in the flywheel and enlarge to pressure plate holes for the metric bolts.

On an aside though if you are trying to use a mechanical clutch with the nv4500 I cant speak on it or an interchangeable parts existence. Just trying to save you a few bucks.

Okay thanks, yea I was thinking I could use all the factory stuff but idk about that internal slave throw out bearing setup, I don't really like that setup personally. It's just a personal preference. I already have the flywheel and throw out bearing.

Personally I like the internal throwout but its a preference thing. The truck transmission have a different trans to bell pattern than the car transmission did and Im not very versed in that but is it possible to use an sm465 bell on the nv4500?

Yea idk about sm465 to nv4500, it'd be nice but I don't think I'm lucky enough for a nv4500 to bolt to a sm465 bell.

I'd be willing to spend the money on a advanced adapters bell just for the mechanical linkage.

I just need to buy a nv4500 and see how it all looks and goes together

The sm465 bell won't work. The advance adapters bell works fine, just make sure to follow all their recommendations on clutch parts. I had a hard time with mine cause I pieced together different types of parts.

Haha alright thanks man.

I think I know everything I need but I need the final "yes" from someone saying it will work lol

This is what I think I need Sachs nfw1050 fly wheel, ls7 pilot bearing, 12" clutch assembly, advanced adapters bell housing, then the mechanical linkage etc...

Does this sound right

Yes that will work.

I have an LQ4 in my Blazer with the advanced adapters bellhousing and an NV4500 tranny behind it. I used their hydraulic conversion kit with the bellhousing, but it would have worked with the mechanical linkage without it.

Personally, I would find a newer NV4500 bellhousing that uses the internal hydraulic slave/throwout bearing combo. It's much simpler and doesn't get in the way of your exhaust.

Yes it will, as long as it's the "early" NV4500.

The input bearing diameter is the same, the problem is one bolt hole for bellhousing to trans.

Bolt the bellhousing to the 4500 with three bolts that do line up, use a transfer punch on the non-aligned bolt hole in the bellhousing, and drill/tap the 4500.

There is a writeup somewhere online about this. Can't believe it took this many years for someone to figure it out, but it's a lot cheaper than the aftermarket bellhousing setups.

If you use the newer style internal slave, how do you plumb it to the old style master cylinder

I would use a newer style master cylinder with it. This is what I did in my S-10, it's actually just using the factory clutch master cylinder since the NV3500 used an internal slave as well.

When I built the S-10 I had an advanced adapters bellhousing, and modified it to work with the internal slave. I wish I had the factory bellhousing, but when I bought the tranny it came with the AA one.

That looks like a good setup, I'm just curious as to how you hook the two together. Is there a custom hard line you can buy or do I need to make one

I went to a local shop (The Parker Store) and had them make one for me. You could also source a factory line and re-shape it, but I went with a stainless braided line end to end as you can see in the picture.
