LS motor mounts + crossmember recommendations?

I have a set of custom 1inch taller Diy4x mounts with the ord small block crossmember for my 82 2wd frame turned 4wd. I can stick my hand in between the pan and cross member.

Eh... between 4" and 6".

I have 52" springs up front.

I can take some pics but I'm pretty sure if I was a few inches lower in the front I still wouldn't have clearance issues between the cross member and cross over.

Not the best pics but the ones I have.

The bottom of the crossmember is the piece you see with holes drilled into it.

Looks like it sits about 10" -12" might actually be more above the pumpkin of the 60.

@handloader90 Thanks!

I have a TNA crossmember and was wondering if a short lift would be a problem. Maybe the OP will have to keep this in mind with his selection?
:dunno:

I don't see where any clearance issues would come into play between the cross member, axle or cross over drag link.

From what I understand all of the aftermarket cross members are considered "High Clearance" compared to the stock ones and if a stock crossmember (not high clearance) doesn't have issues on a stock height truck with negatively arched springs then I don't see why a lifted truck with a high clearance cross member would pose issues.

I could be wrong though... idk.

Thanks for posting those pics....excellent!
Out of curiosity, if one wanted to move the engine back, how far back could that crossmember slide back on the frame?

Not a whole lot, maybe 2"- 2.5".

Gotta worry about the back of the heads hitting the firewall.

The crossmember has 1" - 1.25" slots on the crossmember itself where the motor mounts bolt to it so it is adjustable there. The motor mounts are adjustable where they bolt to the block same length slots.

Attached pics show the adjustment slots.

Excellent info. Thanks!

So one could theoretically move the engine back up to 3"-3.5" sliding the crossmember back, and the motor mounts to the rearmost slot position?

Yes, I did expect the firewall to be in the way with all that back positioning.

I added pics to the previous post.

I honestly don't know how much you could squeeze out of it.

I haven't really done any fine tuning on getting it set in there properly, my engine is in but thats it. I have to pull it back out to bolt up the gear box and then adjust from there.
