LS Motor Tuning

Dave you are the man. I don't know when I'll ever get an LS motor in my crawler but I know who I'll be asking questions when I do!

I wish I had more time to research this stuff myself.

Unfortunately I'm too poor to pay someone else to do it so I had to learn how to do things myself. Which I'm sure alot of people on here can relate too. :doah:

I feel like im in between! Work too hard with not enough time to learn and still no money to pay someone else! hahaha.

Goodness!!!...Didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers!...It was just opinion. I applaud that you are sooo TALENTED!..I myself am all about learning as much as possible doing a conversion. You learn sooo much more that way!...but I try to understand that by the time I investigate and research on how to make a harness work.........I could have done 3 jobs on the side ....in half the time...(jobs that I knew, what I was doing), and payed for it........but I understand where you are coming from....you want learn unless you tried........good luck...and sorry if I offended anyone

Dent Master, I am not at all offended!:smile1: I should learn to write English better. I got my Proper Nouns executed incorrectly. I should have used "I" and "myself" instead of "you" and "yourself" in the last sentence of quote below.:doah: I just wanted other members to know where I'm coming from.

Dent Master, I agree some LS conversions owners require some professional assistance.

I consider myself a professional. I have a very broad range of skill sets in both mechanical and electronic career fields. My skill sets include time as Military Radar Technician, ASE Certified dealership service technician, and my current occupation as a Research and Design Engineering Technician for a major consumer electronics corporation.

Quite literally, I've been doing "Car Stuff" for decades. I push myself not to need to rely on "Luck". I spend my time, my energy, and my money to become successful when I set out to do a project. Personally, I feel that "Other Professionals" really aren't any smarter than me. I stick with the firm belief that "Other Professionals" only know something I don't know yet!:doah: What's the point in paying someone to do something you can learn to do for yourself? That's just my .02 cents.

This thread needs an update. Lets see this EFI live stuff and how it works. Maybe even a quick post on what's involved if you just wanna run your old skool TH400 behind a new Gen 3 or 4???

I've been looking into programming for either a TH400 / TH350. I think the common solution is use a 17 pulse VSS (usually same as Manual Trans) and set the Abuse Management to ZERO RPM's.:dunno:

Abuse Management and VSS settings.

I would have to guess the opposite for the Abuse Management settings. Isn't that just defueling at high RPMS? Why would you even need this with a rev limiter?

However, it does look like youd have to do something about the VSS.

I've been reading posts at EFI Live Forum.

For the most part, the EFI Live Forum moderators focus on "Stock Vehicle Applications". The EFI Live Forum moderators tend to avoid detailed information on "How To's" for programming something other than stock.

Below is a thread that I recently read that talks about the Abuse Management setting and VSS. There is also a modified .tun file for a manual trans in the tread. I'm not sure what to think about the .tun files posted on the EFI Live Forum?:dunno: I think some .tun files are OK to use, but I think the majority of the modified .tun files need very careful review before using?:dunno: I think it would be best for me to work from a .tun file that I've personally read from a PCM.

interesting. Looks like you wouldn't even need a VSS if you just raised the abuse management rpms very high or at 0.

No, I havn't even played with the software yet. I've been researching how much an LS swap is gonna cost me though. hahaha. TOO MUCH.

Ok, I know it takes time to get the $$$$ together for a LS engine swap.
