max 02 submitted a new Build:

Lucky # 7de7

Me and my son Colby were on our first pheasant hunt with his dog Max, we were having a great time... I get a text from my mechanic buddy...you want a free truck? This day just got even better!

Not a build thread, more of a work log and place for me to put pics.

That day was September 24 2016
I gave it to Colby to fix up as a fun project for him to learn on, he is 15 and takes welding in school, he enjoys the class and does good. This truck will keep him busy for a while Lol!

It had a Hickey sidewinder winch very poorly installed. We took that off and stuck it on a bench for a latter day. It is seized up.

It was sitting outside in the snow so we got it in the garage right now fixing some of the little things...

It has a 350 that runs real good! The tranny is a th350 that slipped like crazy, we added oil and holy crap it work s fine. Thought the cooler in the rad was leaking the trans fluid out. But now that it is inside we found one of the tranny lines had a pinhole in it,patched that but haven't driven it yet.

I got one of the rear brake lines off right now... it was rusted through, so we need to make a new one.

The ignition switch was bust so I replaced that yesterday.

Slowly coming along.

Made that tool out of a garage door handle so i could get that fockn clip to release and reinstalled.

Bent up a new line yeasterday. Just need to adjust the drums add fluid and bleed.

The gadge cluster is a plane dummy light version.
I got lots of different ones with proper gadges.

Are they plug and play?

Roundeye lives matter!
Dean does the wire harness from the steering column to the gauge cluster match the new cluster printed circuit?
I had issues with the printed circuit itself. Check closely each circuit on that flexible sheet to be sure there isn't a tear or hot spot. Also that the tabs making contact are in good condition!

Spot on! I used really fine sand paper on all the contact surfaces for the cluster and it went from about half operable to working like a charm.
