I'm kind of a pack rat. 2 years ago I sold a car with an Alpine head unit but forgot to send the remote with the new owner. About a month ago I came across the remote and almost threw it away thinking that I'll never need it. But I thought, maybe I'll put it on ebay someday and get a few bucks, so I packed it away.

The 91 Jimmy I picked up has an Alpine head unit and I sit far enough back that changing the stations or volume is a PITA because I have to reach forward.

Then a lightbulb went off. I remembered I had that old remote. Lucky me, it's compatible and now I don't have to reach out to change the station. Pure Laziness.

The moral of the story is, don't throw anything away. Maybe you can use it someday.

i lost the remote in my cherokee. looked all over...no dice.

couple weeks later i was doing a used car inspection on a jaguar that had the same deck. in the glovebox was a brand new in the plastic with the batteries not installed remote. we auctioned that pos jag, but i snagged the remote first.

i found my original remote in my kids bedroom a week later.
