M1008 Cucv Ls Swap Cadolet Build, long range Blazer Bash 2026 prep

Converting my M1008 from 6.2 Diesel to LQ9 power
Please tell us the details.
My 6.2 was toast so I decided to put a big block in it but i wanted decent fuel mileage so I changed my mind and went with a 5.3 with a 4l80 and a Np241 t case. I installed a ord cross memeber, new an lines for fuel and transmission lines. I had a local guy build me a harness and it included e fans provisions.
I went with a 87 and up tbi gas tank with baffles. New radiator, speed engineering headers and some gauges. I plan on cleaning up the interior with a seat recover, new dash and acc rubber floormat. I also got all new gaskets for the cab and doors and windows. I have other stuff I still need to do.

A while back i was installing my speedo gear and cable with the vss pulse emitter for my PCM. I used the wrong bolt on the speedo gear housing and it broke and i had to disassemble the tail shaft housing to get it out. So i got a new correct bolt and i can re assemble it with the right bolts and install my vss pulse emmitter for the pcm, should i replace the bearing in the housing?

If you are that far in to it, it couldn’t hurt to replace the bearing.
Replace the bearing and the tail shaft housing seal then reassembled, then my Crank trigger sensor went out and the truck would not start. Replaced that and the truck started. Hopefully this week, the fuel pump (the current pump is only pushing 45 psi, I need 60 to run). if all that falls in line and the truck runs as it should ill start on a few small things the swap needs: VSS pulse emitter on the transfer case, torque converter lockup switch, GM knock sensors, and shift solenoid on the 4l80 then onto brakes and interior and maybe driveable by October or sooner. I do need to install my Efans and wire them up also but that can wait till it's driveable.

Changed the fuel pump and had no affect still 40 to 50 psi of fuel and engine surges and stalls, further reading told me that the aem pump only flows 40 psi, ls engines need 60, so i need a new pump. Pulled the intake to put in gm knock sensors and oil guage fitting.

I've been waiting on this Holley fuel pump for like 5 months now. They keep pushing the availability date back. Drop in the stock saddle tank.

That is a really nice design, did you ever get it? Wonder how different the TBI sender is?

Well, i have decided to pull the 5.3 in the spring and put in a 6.0, and get a better engine harness. im not impressed with the one I have. and its still doing the surging thing. i don't know enough about LS engines to figure it out nor do i have hp tuners. so my friend will come pick it up and do a tune and figure out what's wrong with it. so it just sits and mocks me as I walk by.

That's not nice. Remind her that you pay the bills and have the power to send her to the scrap yard.

Seems you put in some work to that 5.3, was looking good. not worth rescuing with different harness?

the 5.3 sounds like it has a knock, I want to do something with it, Volvo turbo or something but I had a spare lq9 show up last summer. I don't trust the harness I had rebuilt and the guy who built it won't give me tech support and a few things fell apart on it.

So I had not touched the truck in a while and I had a injector plug break on the harness when I pulled the intake to change my intake gaskets and broke the injector plug. So today it was a warm 44 degrees so I pulled the harness off the truck to figure out how to fix it and well what I thought was a good ground on the firewall was not a ground. Which might have been one of my issues from the get go I never noticed. So I need to fix my harness and find a better ground for my harness.
