m1008 mpg?

With fuel additive, 4:10 gears and 35s it gets in the 17-18 range, i drive it every day ten miles up the highway and back...dont know with 456s i had taken em out b4 i drove it...

my diesel blazer on 38's and no overdrive manual trans w/ 4.10 gears gets 20-21mpg at 55-60 mph on the highway.

Time to start looking for a diesel then, lol. I've already got a gasser k5, so the m1008 is my only choice for a pickup diesel like this right?

Lol ya too far for me. Not too worried about what it looks like, probably going to beat on it pretty good if I have two trucks, my k5 is really in nice shape, so the diesel can be a beater and trail truck.

That said, id still like to avoid much rot, and i've got to sell my monte carlo before I can get another truck, haha.

there are alot at military auctions here but they go a lil pricey...

the diesel was offered in civilian trucks too. the advantage of getting a civilian truck is that it will be a 12volt system, versus the 24 in the military trucks. another benefit of the diesel is that it's obviously fuel injected, so no stalling out on the trails (i get sick of waiting for gassers to get their butts over obstacles sometimes). they've got great low end torque for crawling and a tank of diesel will last an eternity out on the trail. ;)

Bone stock 1028 gets about 17-19 but damn i wish it had overdrive ....... or maybe just bigger tires:doah:

yeah it raises your "effective gear ratio" think of it as a rubber overdrive

changed to 4:10s and 35s still doesnt like over 65...screams still..th400....no od

well not sure of specifics but here goes Trans and t-case as a unit , drive shaft(s) linkage to column , indicator tag behind gauge panel, Kickdown bracket and cable , and ........ I'm thinking thats it

You would also need a converter for a diesel and the wiring harness for the converter lockup.

Hum ok thanks guys, that seems like alot. Anyone know if there is a right up or something anywhere here about someone doing the swap? I looked, didnt find anything tho.
