I just bought a M1009 Blazer and have some trouble shooting to do. The passenger side alternator is unplugged. The previous owner said the passenger side battery gets hot when its plugged in for too long. My first thought was putting a second passenger side battery in parralell with the first to make a 24v bank. I now know better and how the elctrical system works to run the 24v starter. It's my understanding that the driver's side alternator charges both batteries. Why do I need the passenger side alternator? Why is it making the passenger side battery hot? (Thinking bad volt regualtor) Will leaving the passenger side alternator unplugged cause me problems when it gets colder? Everything seems to work fine with the passenger side alternator unplugged. Or, is the passenger side battery just not being charged and I'm eventually going to be stranded when it's drained? Not sure if I should fix this. Your thoughts.
