I am going to add my vote for not enough meat. It’s dumb question, probably asked 100’s of times before but........
Why not ? 22.5’s can be machined to accept 22” passenger car tires .. thoughts???

I sort of agree.....except: When I was looking for new rubber the other issue is that most of the good tires are going with 17". Going to a 17x9, 8 on 6.5, opened up choices for all the good tires. I have a nice set of AL 16" but the tire choices are going away.Interesting idea. I'd have to guess theres not enough material to remove 1/4 inch.
Its incredibly unfortunate that the new US wheel slots only come in 17 inch for 8 on 6.5 inch.

Yeah first was the 16.5 and now the 16I didn't realize that 16 inch was losing selection already. That's unfortunate.
fixed.
16 inch tires of the 235/245/265/285 variety aren't going anywhere. In the all season, all terrain, light mud tire. The rest of the stuff is getting a bit harder these days.
I don't know guy. Real men buy their tires in standard. Eh?Hows the outlook on 315's?
