She didn't have any interior panels on the insides of the quarter panels. I got bored, and I'm cheap, so I made some out of sheet metal and 16 bucks worth of auto utility carpet from ebay. I must say it came out way better than I expected being that this was my first ever attempt at anything like this. I mounted my nice 6X9's in it too. My only concern is that the magnets of the speakers touch the inner quarter panel and I'm not sure if that is a problem.

cool project.........where did you get the carpet? have you given any though to sound deadening the inner quarter? some rolled roofing water shield will make a pretty big difference in the sound too. nice job.

I was considering doing the same thing, but using some sort of board product rather than steel. Looks great!

hardwood ply would look sweet stained up back there. I'm doing 3/32 steel diamond plate in my boys 72.

I used a 1/8" plywood on mine and then carpeted them. I will post some pictures when I get back in town.

I am definitely going to do some sound deadening in there, the panels are not even bolted in yet. In fact that is why it looks like the front of it is cut on a funny angle. It's just leaning a little bit.
Here is the link for the carpeting:

They also have black.

looks good... won't have to worry about that failing like the cardboard...

You should find a way to keep the magnets off the inner quarter panel. Make a spacer or at least put an insulator between them.
