mag hytec 4L60E-B vs stock deep pan

I have a 2001 Silverado 1500 4x4 with the deep tranny pan. Using water I compared the volumes between the mag hytec 4l60e and the stock deep pan. I filled the water to the edge of the pan just before it started to fall out.

Stock GM steal pan. 6.5 quarts
mag hytec 4L60E-B pan 7.5 quarts

when they give size over stock pan its for factory short pan applications.

I have one on my truck. Compared to my stock pan it was a worthwhile improvement. More robust and cooling fins too. Got it for a song so .....

what year truck? did you have clearance issues with the exhaust?

87. And no. But then again I replaced everything lol

Update: On the 2001 Silverado 1500 the tranny pan requires the exhaust cross member to be lowered just slightly for install. I had to disconnect from the header and broke a socket u joint in the process. Then I had to use a 4x2 the pry down the header.
