Magik's 1987 Jimmy - Jiminy

I got the rest of the boards for the bed stained today. I cut them last Sunday but they were wet so I had to let them dry. Usually I get special project boards from Home Depot because they are inside but since they were out of the size I needed I got them at Menards. Menards had the boards covered but still exposed on three sides so blowing snow got on them.

Looking good, I was kind of skeptical of how you used wood at first. but it turned out great:thumb:

I got the new boards installed on the bed. I ran out of daylight so I still have to put on the sides and trim the back.

Side boards installed on bed. 48 holes drilled and 48 screws installed. I should have waited until it was lighter to take pictures. I am going to leave trimming the back until I can stain it after I trim it.

I had to test Jiminy out in the woods. I only had to dig out once.

Stuck.

My sister and her family go up to Medford for a High School Rodeo every year. How quiet is your truck running down the road now?

It has the typical glass pack sound. It can be a little loud when I get on it but driving sensibly it is acceptable.

You should make some weight boxes on the back, I think about 1000#'s would help with rear traction a bunch.

I drove Jiminy 95 miles today on rough Wisconsin spring highways. The Skyjacker Nitro 8000 shocks were stiffer than I like. I probably should have gone with Skyjacker Hydros. I did not notice any negative effects of removing the front sway bar.

I did not even make it into the woods today before I was stuck. I really need to get some lockers. I am thinking a Detroit in the back with maybe an Aussie in the front.

For snow like that you're better off with taller/wider and aired down. 38.5" x 16" TSL's aired down to 5 psi and you would probably crawl right through it even open/open.
