Magik's 1987 Jimmy - Jiminy

That is definitely on my list of things to buy. I sure wish I was rich so I could buy everything at once but I keep plugging away so eventually I will get there.

Yup I hear yah. Btw I really like the way your rig looks definitely no other like it

The electric rear window on Jiminy worked and the wiring was in good shape so today I disassembled the rear window control and wired in a lighted rocker switch. I will use the existing wires for my rear lights.

I installed 2 vertical supports in the cab to strengthen the connection between the tie in brace and the floor. The vertical supports are also the sides of my speaker box.

I got the decals and pinstripes scraped off the doors then rough sanded them with my palm sander. I just got Jiminy into the garage when it started snowing.

I removed the mirror, loosened the door handle, finished sanding and taped the driver's door. As usual the rust was worse than it appeared.

I removed the mirror, loosened the door handle, and finished sanding the passenger's door. I had the door panel off on the driver's side so I can work the window by hand therefore getting to the handle bolt was easy. On the passenger's side I had to remove some of the door panel then drill an access hole through the rest of it to get the bolt out. It was too cold to apply rust converter.

aaa the joys of body work you truck looks good never thought wood would blend in and look so good keep it up :waytogo:

what color are you gonna paint the cab ???

For the time being the doors are just going to be primer gray until I decide what I am doing with the front end. Rust control was the primary objective. However, that plan could change quickly. I use Pettit's Rustlok Steel Primer. It is a high quality marine urethane primer that does not require top coating.

I did some preliminary Bondo work then painted both doors with 2 coats of primer. Jiminy is not a show truck but I needed to contain the rust and the primer will help.

Way to keep at it man! I like all the little updates it's nice to know that at least someone is accomplishing things on there truck:thumb:

All time I was working on the passenger's door, the rusty frame on that side drove me crazy. The stain I put on the driver's side frame is holding up much better than I anticipated so I stained the passenger's side of the frame today.

Door and frame look good and I say keep the front end how it is you already cut most of the truck off soon your not gonna have anything left to cut off :haha:
