Magik's 1987 Jimmy - Jiminy

I got a Rugged Ridge Heavy Duty Off Road 8,500LB Winch for Christmas. Today I measured cable so I could mount it in my rear receiver hitch until I figure out a permanent location. Most of the time I currently use my 2 ton come-along and pull backwards when I am stuck. Then I took Jiminy out to the woods. Does it look like I was in control?

I got the winch mounted and wired. All the cables are secured. Then it started raining so I couldn't respool the cable.

I completely buried Jiminy about 50 feet into the woods. It was snowing too hard to get pictures. We have more than 30 inches of snow everywhere in the woods with many spots even deeper. Our temperatures have been averaging 10 - 20 degrees below normal in addition to the extreme cold spells. My wood supply is starting to make me nervous. It is time to develop a plan B since Jiminy can't make it into the woods.

I can't drive on the road in January with Wisconsin Hobbyist plates so I took Jiminy out for a ride today then hauled a load of wood from the edge of my woods. My plan B should arrive Monday.

Hi Scott! Glad to see you worked out a plan B! Also glad you got Jimny back out of the woods after burying him!

Man, its NUTS how much snow we got this season huh? This freaking -20 nights and -10 high days is getting old REAL fast. I am seriously ready for it to be OVER. On the other hand, it does make for some awesome snowmobiling.. The trails are the best I've seen now in the 12 years I've lived up here.

Did you install the track kit on your quad yourself? (edit - dumb question considering the amount and quality of work done on Jimny so far!) Those suckers are pricy huh!?

It came with the plow, tracks and a set of tires. It has the TJD track system. Tracks are expensive but I am amazed how well they handle deep snow.
