Mah pimp hand just got stronger(new ride) no more 22's

yea yea but you have to be seen like that for the next few months=priceless

i wouldnt have it in me to do it a day, and i dont know how you could:whistle:

buddy of mine had a 1993 2 door yukon with a 3 inch lift, decent shape (no rust) and 31's, some guy from cleveland wanted to trade him straight up for a 01 chevy tahoe 4 door, fade paint (top fades down to bright blue on the bottom) with leather interior, head unit with 7 inch tv screen, and tvs in all the head rests.

my buddy is not gangster at all in his camo hat and boots but put 2 12's in it and drove it around for kicks until he got a trade offer on craigslist :haha:

I got new wheels for the tahoe, a buddy of mine works for American Eagle Wheel so I got a set of 17x8 050's for $480. Was going to put tires on the stockers, but I figured why not. I really wanted the 063, but he said that wheel and a couple others are getting switched over to be made exclusively for 4 Wheel Parts to sell and I would have had to spend more I'm sure so I can live with these. Here is a pic...

The rear pass side tire on the 22's is close to bald so they won't be on it too much longer, then I just have to dip into the K5 funds to get a set of tires. I'm leaning towards Toyo Open Country M/T's since I've heard they wear great as long as you keep check on the pressure and rotate. I will post up some pics once I get them mounted up.

Toyo's are some serious coin. Look into the Nitto MTs also, so far they have been quiet on my dads '06 CCLB. I just put about 1000 miles on them, but only have about 1500 overall. If they wear good and stay quiet, I'll be getting those for the blazer :)

The Trail Grappler M/T's? I looked into those, but don't know anybody that has ran them long enough to know how long they last....I'm staying away from the Mud Grapplers though. A few guys I know have used the Toyo M/T with 40+ k out of them. I liked the Interco Trxus M/T's I had on my zr2, but for mostly street use I can't justify going with Interco's...even though I like the looks of the SS-M16, but they probably wear like crap. if I can get the 4 Toyos in 265/70/17 for $1k I'll be fine with that, I'm waiting for my buddy to let me know the cheapest price he finds for me. He got my 31x10.50x15 Trxus M/T's mounted and balanced for $700 so I'm hoping he finds another place he sells to that owes a favor. He owes me after doing 70% of the work on his bagged Dakota including the labor intensive bodywork, smooth bed inside, made and welded in taillight fillers, full rear skin, and fixed the previous screwed up stuff...he will be owing me for years and tires and wheels plus the use of his welder, plasma, etc is the best way he can repay me :haha:

Been pretty busy lately, but figured I'd post an update with the 22's gone and my new wheels on. Decided to go with the Nitto Trail Grappler MT's since my buddy said they had the toyo's on back order and I wasn't about to pay retail for them. It looks 4wd now at least...would look better with 33's, but for a daily/work ride I can live with it. Never thought I'd wish for a gov lock, but this one wheel drive thing sucks. I have to get time to fix the push button 4wd now that I know it's just the front not engaging.

sweet dude, looks 10x better. Keep notes on the tires and give us a good report 20k miles down the road. I need to look up the mileage when my Dad got his 35"s put on, not sure how many miles are on them now.

The stock brakes on these Tahoe/Yukon's just plain suck. I upgraded to a cross-drilled/slotted rotor on my Yukon with new calipers and the severe duty brake pads from NAPA, and the result is night and day. Where before I was down shifting and braking early, I can wait til the last second and give the pedal a good push and lose all speed. It's such a difference that my plans for 4-wheel discs and hydroboost are on hold for a bit.

Your 'hoe looks pretty slick on those wheels:thumb:

Thanks, I think it looks much better now too...I def plan to keep up with wear so I already have the beginning mileage wrote down. It has a good alignment so I'm going to keep tabs on the air pressure and keep them rotated and once I get more miles on them I'll share my experience...seem more noisey than the trxus mt's on my old zr2...but it doesn't bother me, I just need to work on getting the stock exhaust off and something to drown the tire noise out on.

They do suck and even at a 31.5" diameter these are hefty tires so upgrading the brakes are on the to do list right after getting the 4wd back to working. I'm still on the fence about the wheels, but they were cheap and better than the 22 inches of bling.

ugh I never thought I'd say this but the 22's looked better.

Black steel wheels on a trail truck = cool

Black "bling" wheels = Flatbiller Homo

I will be so happy when the Murdered out big wheel craze dies

I don't know about flatbiller homo:haha:...you haven't seen my buddies f250 with black chrome 22's and 33" a/t's, but I'm not overly happy with the wheels myself....like I said still on the fence. The ones I really wanted which were also 17's, but a black fat 5 spoke design with the faux beadlocks polished have been made exclusive to 4 wheel parts by Eagle...they would have looked alot better I think, but since I got these cheap direct from the warehouse 25 mins from me...they will do for now...and the chrome version is hideous so that's why I chose black....I actually think it'd look better if the Tahoe was white or they were at least 33's and a little wider...but it's more practical than the 22's so it works for now. I like it better than the 22's, but it does have a goofy look to me and I think it's all the black plus the chrome trim...I can live with it though. Plus the way I go through vehicles by the time the tires are worn out I'll probably have something different anyways and if my "trading up" luck continues I'm hoping to come across a 96 up crew cab dually...I'd trade it tomorrow if I came across one. Spare money has to go towards my k5 and gun hobby though so I'm not picky when it comes to my daily. After getting them mounted up though I did have some regret about selling the stock wheels instead of just getting tires put on them...but at the same time I got $400 for them with 2 bald tires and 2 not so great tires...so I can't complain.

Well please don't think i'm cutting you down I may have came across wrong.

I just don't like any of the new wheels out there and I really don't like the black aluminum wheels

Not at all...everybody has their own taste. Just adding that I've even been doubting my own after I saw the wheels on it. I actually didn't pick them out, was talked into them after my first choice was ruled out. I don't hate them or love them, but do think it looks alot better than the 22's....plus the black looks clean longer than chrome or polished so that's a plus.

ok, opinons.. :D

I don't think the black wheels look all that bad, I personally think you went with too agressive of a tire for that truck setup/style. Maybe an A/T would have suited it nicer, especially since you say it's mostly a daily driver ride.

Also from wheelin with a few friends in the past with this style truck, or suspension setup, they're not exactly the strongest for any slightly harder trail runs, mainly sticking to a more than mild dirt road is about all they can handle with those front axles and suspension setup.

I liked the chrome 22's ya had on it, I thought it went decent with the chrome trim that ran down the side of the truck, yeah the tires were alittle short though.

I agree about the ifs and it's off road capability...or well lack of it really and if I planned to keep it for a long while I'd SAS it. Only reason I wanted a MT opposed to an AT is because it needs all the traction it can get with not even having the G80 and as my daily it's also a work truck so muddy construction sites are common and it's nice to not have to park and walk as far for tools and what not like I had to when I was using my Civic as a work truck...I still miss the gas mileage, but the space makes it worth it.

I think you might be right though...the goofy look I see may be because the tires are just too small on it to be that agressive...I mean I couldn't have went bigger without lift and I refuse to do an ifs lift or bl, but maybe that is where my thoughts of goofy looking are coming from. I say that because when the tires were mounted and balanced I thought they looked really good, but when I bolted them on the Tahoe and stood back...ehhh not as much, but still better than 22's to me. Plus I think the chrome trim that suited the 22's is throwing it off now too with so much black. Oh well it's got a burgandy interior and I'm not fond of that either, but I'm happy enough with it to leave it be...well as soon as I get the 4wd working I will be and it should be good enough to pull through the mud it does see then...it won't be seeing any deep holes or anything.

On a side note I noticed a shudder while driving it on the highway today with constant slight throttle...TC? I don't think it's the trans itself because it shifts fine up and down and if you give it more throttle or let off the shudder stops. I'm no expert on transmissions though. Any thoughts? I really don't want to have to put a new trans in it if it starts getting worse.

Yea it's not a shaking shudder...maybe pulsing is a better word. Like it surges and slacks off in a second and keeps doing it with slight constant pressure on the pedal...it's hard to explain. I've lost 3rd and 4th in an auto, but never experienced this.

i thinkyou did pretty good on those rims.a lil blingy, but its not a trail truck,so who cares.the price was right and its better than 22s on 50 series tires.

Wont lie to you I'm not a fan of those rims on there either. However I think you could try some chrome center caps to change up the looks. Myself I would powder coat them aluminum if I was stuck with them.
