Making my own off-road Demon carb, ideas needed.

Not being familiar with SMI, I don't know about their pricing and mods, but if you buy this book
Quadrajet Book
With a little reading and care you can do more to your quadrajet than any aftermarket quadrajet I've come across has done to it. Also check out this link for some good tuning info.

A lot of the theory in these also applies to other carb's.
In addition I've come up with a few mod's of my own to make the quadrajet really perform in off camber situations and high performance, and am working on a few more that I'd be happy to share. Get good at it you can make some side money as well, I'm currently charging the guys in my area $100 per carburetor plus parts. The most important tip I can give is that MAKE SURE that everything else is in good shape first. A lot of problems are misdiagnosed as carb problems that turn out to be some other component (ignition, emissions crap, vacuum leek, or plain worn out motor).

SMI doesn't really do offroad mods, they just jet it and etc for your specific application. ie: vehicle weight, tire size, gears, altitude, cam profile, engine compression, tc stall, etc. The cost for the carb is $320 for their stage II.

So, yeah, I'm just going to get a Qjet.
