Making quick work of those dreaded kingpins...

anyone tried using just a torch to pop a hole through the center? Or is that too risky?

That's called lancing. We lance seized pins all the time on machines. Although that king pin is much much too small. Usually lance 4-6" pins on our stuff.

And NOT with a torch. The welders use lancing rods which have fuel rods in the center with pure oxygen. To blow the centers out of worn seized pins. To change pins and bushings. And lancing is different than air arcing IE gouging. Theyre totally different things. Just sound the same.
 
you have to use a come along.. and a pipe on your allen wrench.. then come along it to the opposite C.. works great, no effort.
