Looking at getting this kit for the shop. Is rated top of the list for these kits. What do you think?

I run the Makita stuff.. quality seems good on the lxt stuff... couple minor minor issues imo....

my big hands catch the reverse switch on my drill sometimes... and I don't like the off/on toggle trigger the 1/2" impact has as much as my snappy's separate switch.. but I think all the big 3 do it the same way...

I need to get more batteries, I only have 2... but the cheapest I see em on eghey is about $50 lightly used....

I haven't smoked anything yet, and that's saying something.. my sh*t lives a hard life...

I've got the blue version of that kit. Likewise no complaints with the general function.

The only complaint I have is that the light is often obscured by the tool due to it's placement back on the body. This leaves a dark spot right where you need to see. Other than that, it's been a great set and has done everything I asked it to do.

When my son graduated college (Summa Cum Laude), I bought him the large Rigid set. I chose that one, and might choose Rigid for myself in the future for 2 reasons. They have a GREAT lifetime warranty, locally serviced, and it includes the batteries! They also seem to have figured out the light problem.

I also like the Makita stuff as well. I just picked this kit up. Couldn't wait, need it NOW. My Dewalt 18v bats died and will no longer take a charge. I have a shed to finish and it's for the company so I bought it. There is some charge in them but charging bats to full now. Can't wait to try these out! I really want to get a cordless 90 deg drill driver too. Having to use my 1/2 Milwaukee power drill is harder to use is it's got hella torque and will strip out a wood screw in a hurry if I'm not careful. Have not stripped one out yet and don't want to.

Im pleased with the 18v makita lxt tools. Have yet to burn one up. Ive got 9 tools and 7 batteries...Lately I have had an issue with 2 of the batteries being bad according to the smart charger, but they are 3 years old now and well used as I only had 2 batteries at the time running lots of tools. The funny thing is, the drill is why I bought the kit originally, and I never use it anymore, and I put a metal jacobs 1/2" chuck on it because I burned thru the plastic on the original one from rubbing it on stuff/beating on it....

I will warn the brotherhood against buying Makita's brushless stuff. I bought the kit and hated it. The chuck drill has some sort of auto shut off if torque gets too high (drilling 1/2" hole through 1/8-3/16" steel or using Unibits) totally unrealistic; also had a weird trigger feel.

I returned it and bought the standard green set. Much happier now. Should have done that from day one. This is for home, my work already has 3 of the white sets and 1 green set.

I have both the hammer drill set, and the non hammer drill set. THe first wiht big batteries, the 2nd with the slim ones.

They both Dominate. that being said, i rarely use the drills, mostly just the impacts. I don't know what i did before cordless impacts!

No doubt! I love that damn little thing.

Benefit of having both kits, is for most household / garage use, i'm not running it that hard. so the light battery is badass.

Ready to build a deck? slam that big battery in, and go to town!
