after recent tool losses, I'm pretty certain I'm gonna pull the trigger on getting into another battery system... my current snappie and Mac set up's are in disrepair and no longer viable after the storm..

effectively all I'm running now for Mac is a pair of these right angle drills (1 backup) a couple batteries and the flashlight..

Snappie, all I have left is a 13 yr old hammered beyond belief 18v 1/2 impact that still works surprisingly well, if I had a charger.. :doah:plus I'm down to 1 or 2 good batteries..

their 1/2 impact is unmatched, but with just a selection of 1/2 drill, the saw, killer 1/2 impact and a couple lights.. it's a bit limited.. and expensive..

so makita or dewalt.. same price, I'm going with the makita... and the tool selection is rediculous.. already eyeballin about 10 of em! :haha:

what i do wish someone made is a 110ac work radio that is also a charger.. that would kick a$$....

think I'll nut up at x-mas and buy the 6 piece combo..

than definitely add the 1/2" impact after that for drive install/removals, motor teardowns, etc, probably used thru eghey.... than the die grinder caught my eye for down the road...

but every piece in the 6 piece will get used often.. circular saw for wood supports while shrinking, sawzall, right angle with cutoff for hose clamps, etc..

anyway, :doah: anyone running the newer Makita stuff? :ears:

I like the bigger battery LXT stuff..

I am, have the drill/impact bit driver combo, 3/8" rad, 1/2 " impact, sawzall, angle grinder, and vacuum. Works great, no complaints so far, although I did modify the impact, sawzall, and RAD to work on the compact batteries.

i assumed those batteries where interchangable.. most times, it wouldn't be a huge issue for me.. length of charge is more important for me..

I have the 3/8's impact, and 1/2" hammer drill. 2 sets actually. Freaking love them.

You'll want the larger pack's for run time, but the small ones make the tool SOOO light.

I'd love a 1/2" impact, but really, the 3/8"'s does what i need it to in terms of disassemble.

I approve of your new tool line choice:waytogo:

yeah, I really want a versatile line up this time... the vac if decent could actually be useful for me with the boats for quickie clean ups as i get off..

i deal with lots of carpet! :doah:

heck, I wouldn't mind the portaband either...

I want the portaband, wouldn't mind the 3/8 impact, I'm always putting the adaptor on my 1/4" impact bit driver to run 3/8 sockets.

my buddy had the 3/8 impact.. very handy tool and seemed quality.. i can see i'll be searching eghey endlessly for em all over the winter... :haha:

one thing i don't need is a hammer aspect to the drill.. i don't do masonry sh*t.. :haha:

I never use my hammer drill, except to mount red heads for my air compressor

I lied, i have the 1/4" impact.

And, the only reason i have the hammer drill is that if you get the kit with the regular drill, it comes in a lunch pail. Who the F wants a drill kit in a lunch bag?

Had to step up to bigger batteries and hammer drill to get the real case.

i'm not sure how i'm gonna go about this... it seems the money is in the batteries.. i'm seeing the individual "tool only" at some decent deals... and relatively cheap individually, especially used.. i may piece together what i want over a few months as opposed to just buying 6 piece.. i'll see when i have some dinero in hand...

usually it's a truck part for x-mas... but i'm too old and wise to be back to manually spinning ratchets and such all day! :haha:

pricey tho.. that one 6 piece kit is actually like 50 cheaper than this 4.. but it doesn't have the 1/2 impact like this one does..

this, than it would be..

diegrinder
right angle grinder (especially if i can't save my black mac one)
sawzall
circular saw
vacuum

as time/money/eghey allow... :haha:

I did my axle swap with that 1/2" impact, works pretty good, not as good as my Marco air, but I was in a field with no air or power access. I would get the 1/4" bit driver impact as well, my most used tool in the pack...

Dewalt makes a corded shop/ job site radio that charges your battery packs.
