Hey Manny, keep in mind that the poly motor mounts look just like the rubber ones sometimes. I would call Mr. Janke (if I remember correctly) and ask him. Most performance shops do put the poly ones in. Take care and I hope you get to 100% ASAP.
x2!

Hey John and everyone,

Today I checked my motor mounts. Drat, drat, and triple drats! Rubber! Grrrrr! I'll be calling Summit in the morning to get authorization to return the tranny mounts. Looks like I'll be getting new ones from LMC. Rubber all the way. I don't feel like taking a chance and cracking a bell housing.

Thanks for the watchdog alerts!

Manny

EDIT: Well, LMC only sells poly mounts. Gonna try a few other places, but looks like I may be sticking with ES poly's. Time will tell.

I just bought the exact same style rubber tranny mounts from Classic Parts Of America (aka Chevy Duty). The part number is: 79-111 and they are cheaper that the poly bushings too at $29.95.

Also Manny in looking at this picture, it may be the angle of dangle but it looks like your brake line could possibly hit your exhaust while flexing out...

thats actually a RPO sticker. all GM vehicles have them. the window sticker is much bigger and has pricing.

It was in the glovebox, right?

x2, thats the RPO sticker. The window stick would have more info on it, such as pricing as Chas said.

those spring aren't going to flex enough to worry about brake line length.

I have the original window sticker for my '87 Jimmy Sierra Classic. It was like $27,000 brand new in 1987. Every option possible.

Manny, your build is amazing, and I wish I had the time/money/motivation to build something as thorough and nicely as you have. I love the fact that you pay such attention to the small details. That picture of the underside of your truck makes me believe I would probably eat off of it.

I'm one of those guys that as soon as it's running and driving, I'll be out getting it dirty already saying "bah, i'll worry about doing the rest later", but you are doing it the right way, and it is awesome.

According to that, not only did you get 235/75/R15's, you only got 3 of them to boot! :haha:

Here's a treat for ya! I came across this tonight in the truck. Didn't even know I had it. It's the original window sticker! Man how things have changed. P235/75/R15's ???? You gotta be kiddin' me? :haha:

Look at all the bling-bling. Yeah, baby! 1983 :pimp1:

I`m assuming its the adapter to bolt the NP205 to his SM465...

Are you taking into account the fact that the 205 is shorter than the 208? Or does that adapter move it back? Are the crossmembers the same for a 208 and 205? I thinkl the 205, being shorter moves the rear driveline attachment point forward, but doesn't affect the front driveline length. Is the HAD shaft being made with the extra length required for the 205?

are you getting a round pattern 205 or a figure 8.

I have scrapped more then one truck that had a 465/205 combo and the adapter didn't look like that.

If I'm correct thats for the newer 205's. there are two different cases and you need to make sure you are getting the right one.

Never fear Chas, Manny is getting a round style NP205 transfer case. This design superceded the old figure eight style you refer to in 1985, as GM discovered they could use one transfer case for both manual and automatic transmission equipped 1-ton trucks, instead of two very different variations of (basically) the same transfer case.
At this same time, GM also eliminated the drive sleeve in the manual transmission equipped truck, which was a known weak point.
Also at this same time, GM changed all transmission to transfer case adapters to the so called "short" style. This was a vast improvement in strength, as the previous "tall" style adapters were notorious for breaking the feet off. I have yet to see a short style adapter broken from anything but being dropped--not while installed in the truck and operational.
Hope this clears up any confusion.

Hi Chas,

Jimbo has been working very close with me and I have followed his instructions. The connection between the tranny and the tc is a figure 8 pattern. The means I have a 32 spline output shaft. Jimbo is making sure that the tc is a match and I'll be in good shape. I'll double check with him and make sure I'm getting the right one. I will take pics of my 208 union and post them up just to be sure.

Thanks for watching out for me.

Manny

Nevermind, Jimbo cleared it up, BTW, good info!!

Manny, I don't post much but I feel that is not always the case. In point, My 465/205 is adapted by a 10 spline shaft with a matching female collar that joins the two. Not the best but it has yet to fail on me, Just checked it a couple of weeks ago while putting a 32 spline front output for Jesse's flange after swapping the 44 for a D60.

Dirty

Jimbo is a great guy and has forgot more about most subjects I think I know about!

How do you like your 465 for mudding? My plans are 454/700r/203/205 w/ Rockwells, but I just love standards, but then again I want overdrive...I think I really need to sit down and crunch some numbers.....

Sounds great so far!

Well, I guess I could get a overdrive unit for a 465...hmmmm....Jimbo what do you think......

Otherwise Manny, I think you will have a REAL reliable and resilient Mudd Truck.

As soon as I get my Burb together enough to take it out I want to get with you and go MUDDIN!

sounds like my trucks' comin along real real nice manny. badass man, just wished i lived closer so i could come do some wheelin with ya bro. damn.
