Manual v. Auto and Decelaration (education requested)

Or the EGR, or EVAP, or the stalling on decel.

Stalling on decel is not a 100% thing. However, it IS a function of the VSS, and there are just as many that don't run VSS that have/had problems as those that don't run it, and have it run fine.

Go read the jagsthatrun.com vss chapter they have online, although it's not nearly as in depth as it could be.

WOW! its getting confusing in a hurry. Without the VSS, throttle responce is going to be more sensitive. It wont shut the feul all the way off it will return to idle. The stalling i mentioned is the standard trans in 4th gear lugging the engine below idle RPM therefore the engine dies and fires right back up. A carb engine will do the exact same thing. Your forward motion is just like pull starting a truck. THE reason i said to clutch though the turn is because without the VSS the decelleration is going to be choppy. As it turns out if you use a F.I. engine out of a 2wd or car when you put your truck in low range the throttle responce is going to be very touchy because the VSS is sending a speed that dont make sence to the 2wd computer. However this isnt as choppy as NO VSS at all, without the VSS its trying to guess what you want it to do. And the super responcive 2wd computer is easy to get used to, and get the feel for so you aint as likely to encounter lurching or surging. I hope this makes sence i tried to put it in as plain english as i can without loosing the original thought.

2wd or 4wd doesn't matter, both measure vehicle speed at the driveshaft, which is constant, regardless of 4hi or 4lo.
