manual valve body 700r4... (ITS IN..but i need help!)

the AC gate shifters are available in the reverse pattern... the only difference between the reg and reverse is the gear sticker...

I was just going to say the same thing. Not like there is any internal mechanical differences between a normal and reversed pattern shifter, just the sticker that says PRND321 or PRN1234, etc...

Personally I've never been a fan of ratchet shifts, always preferred gated shifters.

The gate IS different between a forward and reverse pattern it's not just the indicator markings.

how so Scott? the gate pattern MAY be different, but even if, it should still function fine... it is just a controlled distance and equal detents from 4th to 1st...

yeah, it might be different, but the distance from park to 4th is going to be the same, so it could be made to work.

ive seen on some u put it in 1st and just push to 2nd then from 2nd to 3rd u have to use the trigger and push. so i think for forward or reverse valve bodies u have to switch the gates...just a guess though

You are correct. I've been trying to either find a pic of both gates or an explanation but am not having any luck. I know the gates are different though as i used to have a race car and have had both in my hands at the same time and they are different. Some shifters have removeable/replaceable gates and others the gate is welded to the shifter body and you must buy the correct shifter (unless you want to make your own gate and cut/weld it in place).

so, i got the tranny, and everything else i need to put the tranny in. i got the shifter last week to build a little stand for it before i picked up and put in the tranny. im going to use the button for my horn because its only on when i hold it and just do a toggle for the lock up. just a pic from my phone for entertainment.

Care to explain what you're talking about?

i THINK he means that the push button on the shifter doesnt lock in place, its a normally open momentary

What would the horn button have to do with anything?

the horn on his steering wheel is broken and he has a pushbutton on the floor for it, he wants to use the one on the shifter instead of using the shifter button for the lockup

ya, i was going to use the little button on the t handle for my lock up (the buddle of wires hanging and wrapped up for now) but it is only ON when i push it and hold it. its not ON with one push and OFF with another. sorry for the confusion.

Did you consider the Manual/Automatic valve body. From what I understand they work normal when placed in D but will hold the gear if placed in 1,2, or 3. I know they make these for other trannys but not sure on the 700R4. Time to do some searching.

Yeah, I always thought that would be cool. But what is the shift pattern? PRND123?

it is a fully manual reverse valve body, so whatever gear i put it in, its in. and as for the shift pattern its PRN1234. o ya, and a little update, i got the old tranny/t case out and bolted up the new HD flex gear (stock one cracked with only a 4.3 in the last truck) and so tomorrow i have to mate up the "new" tranny and t case and hopefully my TC will come in tomorrow also.

I was wondering what the pattern would be on a manual/auto valve body. I'm wondering if it's really just a standard valve body with some tweaks.

oooo ok, im not sure about the first question but my valve body is a TCI valve body...but now that im thinking about it more...i dont no if a TCI valve body is just a normal valve body with their little tweaks and parts in it or not.

I'd be curious to hear more on a manual/auto valve body... thats new to me... I've always been under the impression it was one or the other, manual is FULL line pressure all the time.. not sure how they'd work the "auto" aspect into that...

Manual/Automatic Valve Body
The Hughes Manual/Automatic valve body is designed for street/strip operation. It will let you shift manually or put it in drive and the transmission remains fully automatic. This valve body is featured in their street/strip transmissions. When shifting manually this valve body will remain in gear until you select the next gear, and then provide you with a clean crisp transition as you accelerate.

Jegs doesn't list one for the 700R4

I would like to find one... Someone must be running one or know how to make it work.
