Massive CK5 road trip. Help me make it happen!

In the summer, the further north you go the more daylight you have. We wheel all night long up here and barely need the headlights :D .

Awesome, right now it gets dark at 6:30pm... but soon time will change and we'll gain another hour of day light, plus the days are just getting longer... longest day of the year it gets dark at around 9pm.

I will be in Great Falls, Montana, not sure how close you plan to get there, let me know

I'd be passing right through there on I-15, are you going to be there all summer or what? I wish some other guys from the route up there would post up, so far it looks kinda like I'll be driving up there with minimal stops.

I think you'll need more time if you want to come to CA. I'd skip Sacremento and go for SFO as well. If you are planning on going through Vegas, then you might as well go through Los Angeles. You pretty much have to go to LA anyway on the way to Vegas from here. For reference, it'll take driving most of one day (8 hours) to get from SFO to Las Vegas, even when standing on the skinny pedal.

If you decide to skip SFO, then you can still stop by Sacremento and get to Vegas without as much trouble since you don't have to cross over the big mountain range.

I drove from Pheonix to New Orleans with my girlfriend (now wife) and back within two weeks. I spent most of the time driving though. Don't underestimate how long it takes to drive places. It would have been nice to spend a day or two in some places.

Denver is cool. Stop by one of the many Rock Bottom Brewery's there. They're cool.

And if you're going through Colorado anyway, go to MOAB! It's not that much farther and is way cool even without the K5.

Man, I am moving to Saskatoon either in the summer or October. If this thing gets planned later on in the summer, then maybe I can go the further distance, and visit some of the CK5 family....

My brother is getting married September 29th, so I have to come back for that. I want to get there earlier then october though, so maybe this is a good excuse to leave early, and return for a couple of days for the wedding.

I have been waiting to meet more brothas' for a while now...

cool deal! I'm moving back to Great Falls in 3 months and it will be my permanent place of residence. I get done with school in 3 months. Definatly gonna have to meet up. If you plan on staying the night your welcome to stay at my place.

May not be the straightest route, but I'd go East out of SF thru Sacto., around Tahoe, drop off the backside down into Carson City and work my over to NV 95 for the trip down into Vegas. From Vegas I'd head out to Boulder & visit Hoover Dam, then across the dam & onto the Grand Canyon. Then pick up the 160 to the 191 & up into Moab from the south.

If you do stop off for Lassen in Nor CA there is a great little spot near there called McArthur-Burney Falls. Highly recommend a stop there. Has a campground too.

If you've got AAA you should be able to get state maps for each one you plan to visit. Possibly can get Canadian Province maps from them as well.

If you do end up in So. CA I'm 80ish north of LA on the coast & I have room.

6300 miles in 14 days - I'd say you're not going to make very many stops... :D

I've done a couple big road trips. You're lucky to average 50-55mph overall, and driving more than 10-12 hours in a day, when you're going to do it the next day just sucks, so really, you're reasonably limited to 500-600 miles per travelling day. Don't think you can drive 20hrs a day, 4 days out of 5, averaging 75mph the whole time, you'll get stuck in Canada with no time, and no money.

Well the way it's looking I'll probably have 2 friends with me, and we won't be making many stops on the way to Canada. If we load up on bottled water and bring sandwiches premade, along with assorted snacks, the only reason we will stop is for photo ops, bathroom breaks, and gas. I may plan to stop and camp two nights on the way up, and switch driving duties as needed. I'll also allow time for the occasional "hey look at that chit" stop. Damn I'm excited.

My gf and I will be in Orange County and all around LA the second and maybe third week of June visiting her family, and if you come that far south into Cali, we could all hang out and caravan back together accross the desert. Wish I could go up to Canuckistan and hang with the can man but I am getting the grand tour of so cal by the gf and get to meet her old jerk off boyfriends...that still harass her...I bet you cant guess whats going to happen then...bwahaha time to whoop some emo kids a$$. ...man I cant wait. this is pb what the itinerary will look like.

go to the beach
fight douche bag #1
hang out on santa monica peer
make fun of some damn long haired hippy libs
take gf out to dinner, make out a little
hang out with her brother
fight douche #2
go to movies
make fun of some emo kid that sits outside of movie theaters because its cool...
well you get the idea.

I am down if you will be around, we will be heading back through Las Vegas and Palm Springs(not sure if its I10 or not), and making a stop for the night in Arizona where I will meet my estranged half Uncle that I didnt know about til a year ago and spend some time with him and his family. and then back to Texas the next day. If your plans are similar to our route, I would be more than glad to make a leg of the trip with you guys.

You'll be coming right through Billings on I-90. You've got a place to stay here, brotha (assuming I'm not out wheeling :waytogo:)

You may also find it about 100-150 miles shorter to take the 2-lanes between billings and Great Falls instead of west to Butte then N. to Great Falls.

If you still plan on coming West into Denver on I-70 and then North on I-25, I'll buy you and your friends a quick breakfast/lunch/ or dinner.

I'm about 40 minutes North of the I-70 / I-25 interchange.
