Would the 1 ton master cylinder be a decsent upgrade if installed on a 1/2 ton('87-'91). Would you actually gain anything, and are they inner changeable? Also the same for the factory proportioning valve? Added 3/4 ton axles and going to run 39's, just thinking of better braking options!

the 1 ton m/c would be larger bore, IE it would push out more fluid than smaller ones

and from my own personal experience, 1/2 ton m/c lines and ports are reversed from 3/4 and 1 ton ones

1/2 ton brakes work DAMN good if everything is in good shape, lack of maintainence/worn parts causes crappy brakes, especially in the 1/2 tons, when 1/2 ton system is in great shape then the brakes will put you through the windshield with very little pedal travel AT ALL, such as with my stepdads 82 K-10

VERY strong brakes and its just a light little k-10 shortfleet 305 700r4 2.73 from factory and small spring packs and smallest brake system)power vacuum

he rteplaced everything, wheel cylniders, calipers, shoes pads, m/c, etc,

so now it performs like its supposed to

good luck
