Master Cylinder upgrade. Can I eliminate proportioning valve?

I have a 70 k5 with front disc brakes. The master cylinder needs to be replaced and I am wondering if there is a bolt on upgrade from a different year (which years will work for this model?) where the master cylinder proportions front/back automatically or will I need to keep using my old proportioning valve? If anyone has info about this, I would greatly appreciate it.

I dont know of any master cylinders from newer years that have a built in proportioning valve. But If the proportioning valve in your truck is the orginal you might want to think about replacing it also.

Eliminating it will probably cause your rear brakes to lock up before your front brakes grab good.
