I need to replace my winch cable and I want to know if anyone has used this rope style cable as an alternative? Here's their website http://www.masterpull.com
thanks.

It may have a good strength rating, but it's abrasion resistance isn't anywhere near the abuse that wire rope can take. Looks like it's just a heavy-duty polypropylene rope to me. Drag it across a rock, tree or bumper and it's going to fray and/or break.

There are a few posts on the Pirate 4x4 board about this. Also there are a few people that use this on that board.

To Sum most of the posts about this up on that site, Most like the Master Pull Winch ropes. There has been some breakage and the rope does not whip violently like cable does, the rope just falls to the ground.

I am curious about abrasion and UV rays hurting the rope though.
Supposedly in the beginning they said that UV rays break down the material in the rope over time. But I am not sure of that time period.. It is probably better to call Master pull on this.

Please post what you find out, because I am interested in this for the near future.
