Will a 35/10.50R16 or 35/12.50R16 tire, work on an 86' K30 with stock rims, 1" Zero Rates and 1" body lift? Fender trimming is not a problem, as long as the wheel wells can be kept.
Had in mind 35/10.50R16Swamper SSR Radials or LT315/75R16 (35/12.50R16)Hankook Dynapro MT-RT03.
If not, what is the maximum tire size that will work?
Eventually want to add a 4" shackle flip, crossover steering, 17x9 wheels w/4.5-5" back spacing, etc. and run the largest tire possible, with that combination. Should be able to easily run 37's but would like to run 40's if possible.
Want to maximize tire height with the above combinations of lift, 6" total maximum, and still keep the wheel wells.

yes, I had 35X12.5 on my stock 15" wheels. These were on my blazer with no lift. Little trimming to the front fenders thats it.

Anyone Else? I am ready to order tires!

1986, K30, 1" zero rate, 1" body lift, fender trimming, stock/factory wheels. Will 35's fit?

Am leaning toward LT315/75R16 (35/12.50R16)Hankook Dynapro MT-RT03, as I can get them through my regular tire dealer. Have a set of Lt235/85R16's on one of my pickups, and have been happy with them.

My truck HAD 36x12.5-16.5 Goodyear RT/II's off of a HMMWV on stock GM 16.5's up until a few months ago. Some minor trimming and they will fit pretty good. Basically just nip the lower edges of the fenderwells.
Beware though the wider tires will hit the forward draglink unless the steering stop is adjusted out. In my case I had to get an entirely new bolt and install that. Really lost some right turning ability. They also destroyed the front drag link to the point where it needed to be replaced. Boot was torn to shreds.

Now I'm in the process of putting on 38x11ishR16's (11.00R16) Michelin XL's on stock GM 16" wheels with only 1" of front lift and some trimming. The narrow width of the tires and wheels and thoughtful cutting should make it work. The not-so-flexy K30 springs also help. It's been done before but I haven't been able to find pics of the completed work and fitment.

What is the actual height if the 36x12.5-16.5 Goodyear RT/II's? Most 35" tires measure slightly under 35".
Was really looking for a 35" tire that is narrower than 12.50" to hopefully head off those kind of issues mentioned in the above quote. But the only one that I could find is the SSR 35/10.50R16, which is higher priced than the 35/12.50R16 Hankook, plus freight cost. Am I missing any 35" tires, of similiar tread pattern, that are narrower than 12.50"?

Mine were about 34.5" tall. Kinda short but then again they weren't the best tires either.

That was the problem I was having...finding tall but narrow tires. Before I found the mil-surplus LAV tires I was considering the 36x10.5ishR16 Buckshot Mudders of old school fame. National Tire and Wheel still has some and has decent prices on them.

36x12.5R16 TSL Radials also have a reputation for being on the narrow side, like somewhere around 11" wide. Was another contender.

Would moving the axle forward 1" or 1.5" with the 1" Zero rate help out with the draglink clearance issues for the 12.50" wide tires?
Then, would this create any front driveshaft length issues?

I ended up not being able to move mine forwards to the slip splines in the front d-shaft not having enough splines. Too short even at 1".

The tire width and the bulge with the narrow wheels was the 12.5's problem. The forward movement might help some but I bet it'd still be there.

I may have to bite the bullet and buy some 17x9 black steel wheels and 35/12.50R17 Hankooks.
I am assuming that the standard 4.5" backspacing would eliminate the draglink rubbing problems.
Am dealing on a set of 36/13.5/17 bias Iroks on 17x9Am. Eagle wheels, but am really concerned about fitment as the tires measure 36.8" according to the Interco website. Price seems OK and they are fairly close by as things go here, 250 miles.

Not sure but I bet the wider rim would help keep the sidewall off of the draglink.

More trimming though.
