Trying to plan a ck5 trip to the rubicon in a few months. It has been posted in my build but looking to see if anyone else is interested. It will be my first time going, so I'm starting to gather spare parts and looking for ideas and recommendations. the dates are May 15th-17th. :ears: not sure if this is posted in the right spot either.

Hey i posted over in the blazin trails section but maybe you'll get more views over here since the trails part of the forum seems like the place to share your trip as opposed to planning a trip.

Either way ill be there!

Sweet, I didnt check over there but figured that most look here as well. I cant wait to get out there. I need to replace my rear leafs before we go getting to saggy

Thats what im thinking too. Im definately looking forward to it! I have so much work to do to the rig before i hit the trail...sliders to weld on, swap in 14bff, buy 40's, rims and probably do a hydro assist as well. :eek1:

Ok cool me too! looks like we have similar mileage between us an the trail. Probably 3-3.5 hours. I was thinking we could meet in auburn if time permits. I think it would be a wise idea to start on the loon lake side of the trail?

No, I'm just going to drive up. It will be a bit of a drive but well worth it. I'm not sure exactly how long of a drive it is though.

around 2hrs to Georgetown assuming that's the way we go in :dunno:

45 minute drive for me :D

Which trail head? Loon Lake or Wentworth Springs?

I found a good video of that part of the trail, looks fun. maybe hit it early friday?
Cant post the link because it doesnt like my tablet but ill post it tomorrow!

it's a pretty easy section of trail so it really doesn't matter.

Just depends where we end up camping Friday and Saturday night.....or plan to camp anyway :D

Skunked, I think I will be coming up through Lincoln. maybe we can meet up there

yeah from what ive heard that portion of the trail only takes a few hours at most. so we could potentially hit it and go a ways in past the slabs for camp.

That makes sense, my house is about 5 minutes off highway 193. Just take the 65 to downtown Lincoln (don't take the new bypass) We could meet up at my house or on 193 and head out toward Auburn and up through Georgetown.

Sounds good to me.

So the current plan with the other guys that are going is to get up to loon and camp there friday night, get up early and hit the trail, make it to buck by mid day and camp there then finish the trail sunday. Not sure how that works for you guys. :dunno:

My thought was to hit wentworth to loon friday before noon and then meet up at the loon camp ground with my co worker, a chevy, a ford and maybe more.

Seems sort of relaxed but i dont have a real appreciation for the trail and how long things take to do yet. My coworker has been through several times so im sort of trusting his word.

Camping at Loon the first night is fine with me, I'm in no rush personally. I wouldn't mind throwing a line in the water and tipping back a few beers at Loon on Friday afternoon/evening :D
