Meet "Murphy" the '84 K5

Thanks guys! It was a lot of work and a lot of fun. would've been more fun to work on if it wasn't my daily driver though! from the day I decided to do it til now, it's been about a year.

it needed a new headliner, so it got my favorite flag. she's been called a 'rebel machine'.

speakers mounted in the door now
Do you remember where you picked up that particular flag? Ive been looking for one just like that. :waytogo:

thanks man! I love driving it! :waytogo:

need some e-brake components if anybody has some parts laying around!

for the record, the griffin aluminum radiator from summitt that is supposed to be a direct swap for this vehicle/engine is nowhere near the right fit! wish it was, it looks sweet, but is a solid inch too tall and the passenger side hose connect angles up, right to where the trans lines are supposed to connect.

guess I'll just try a lower thermostat for a bit.

I'd like to get some second opinions on diagnosing an issue:

Sitting still and idling, the truck gets up to tstat temp and regulates to stay there (195). at highway speeds in OD, it might get up around 200. going up pretty steep hills for a moderate about of time at 45mphish, it'll stay around 210. if you go up those same hills at 30mphish, it'll heat up just about to the red, making me uncomfortable enough to pull over. pulled over and idling, in a minute or two it cools back down to 210ish and eventually back to the proper temp.

thoughts? ...the engine is new, new tstat (and just today I swapped in a 180 to see if thatll help), fan obviously works, water pump is new, new radiator cap. just a heavy load for the 350 in the summer time going uphill? it's been hot here too recently

Hows your timing? And I hear a lean fuel mixture will cause hot temps.

timing is pretty good, but I'll check it again. thanks for the idea man, good lookin blazer you have, and I'm waiting for some truggy pics!

Yah been slackin on. theTruggy pics. Workin on it a bunch this weekend i hope. My c25 tank should be filled by the time im out of work.

Take the thermostat out. Where do you live? I live out in the desert so I dont need one and took mine out. :waytogo:

thanks for the compliments guys, here's a better picture of the paint. needs to be washed. look towards the bottom away from the flash. it's that dark green with tiny gold metallics. thats near the mirror that's truck bed lined.

it's a little too early to tell, but I think the 180* stat might do the trick.

Awesome color. Blazer looks great in that green.

If you were buying a new radiator I would suggest the 4 core. I have it in my truck and pulling a trailer up the I-17 leaving phoenix in 105+ temps I can have the A.c. on full blast and not have any worries.

With the stock sized radiator the truck would overheat when climbing any large hill

thanks man

what four core are you running? that was my original plan, but I've looked and looked and can't find anything that has the same dimensions as the radiator currently in the truck.

I have the insulators and brackets from the 454 set up. Then the 4 core out of a 454 truck.

4 core is thicker than stock. I'm not sure if itbis any wider or not.
