Hey @sreidmx, @secutright, and @bergerking. Chalk this up to me hardly knowing anything about CA geography, but I didn't realize you guys were desert rats. My Grandpa settled in Littlerock (CA) in 1948. My dad grew up there in the Mojave until he split out for regions with lower population density (settling in Kansas and then Iowa). I have some pretty warm and fuzzy memories of visiting the region, up until the point that both Grandparents died. Haven't been back there for 10 years now, and I don't know if/when I'll make it back out to the old homestead and the relatives still out there. But it is still a special place to me. Even if it is in California. :haha:

Highway 18 West of Victorville will forever be known as "The Uppey-Downey Road." :rotfl:

Grandpa was a master fabricator, there would be no Chevy projects in my life without that influence. He didn't have money to buy parts, so he made his own everything. Campers, trucks, tractors, that's just the way he did things. Some of his projects (like this one) are still in the family.

It looks different now (60 years later), but the little homemade tractor is still kicking it out on the family farm, now hauling around his great-grandchildren. 4th generation mechanical awesomeness. :)
