Michelin Military Tires : Question for Military Personnel

muddybuddy said:
so are they really only rated to 65mph? hmm

Malarkey. They're rated for 5000 lbs each. The mph rating is only on the big trucks they use them on in the military. I could almost put my whole K5 on one tire...I just had an idea. We have worn ones that would make killer trailer tires...:D

so you think they could go 70mph on a k5?

i like the idea of the 12.5r20, almost exact size im looking for, but i dont know if i want to go with 20s:doah:

Too bad they don't list the tires weight. I bet they are heavy.

That's the only downside. I weighed mine. I *think* they were around 90 lbs. I'll weigh one on a civvy wheel next time I have one off.

There's a guy that was on here that put them on some alum 20s that weren't too expensive from 4wp I think. Had 'em on a 1008 cucv.

yea i remember that, ive got the pics of it saved. i believe he sold the truck. i think id rather stick with a smaller rim tho. i really want H2's and mighta found a set locally for cheap. but in the meantime i wanna get some XL's, i just like the way they look, if only they were 1 or 2" wider

The 325/85 R16 XML's are the same height as the 11.00R16 XL's...but 2" wider.

Rene

If I remember right on the XLs the military wheel weighs about 40lbs, the runflat weighs 60, and the tire wieghs around 90, putting them right about 200 pounds in the military setup. The XMLs are even heavier. You have to have 2 guys to lift the XMLs into a truck.

I know most of you guys are after the 11.00x16, but has anyone come across 9.00R16 (preferably Michelin XL) tires?

anyone know how heavy they are with the wheel they come on??
My 11.00x16 XL's on stock cucv wheels weigh about 125 lbs each, about 60% worn. Not sure how much a stock wheel weighs
